Thirteen Things about AMy
Thirteen movie quotes from my favorite movies

1M'Lynn: I find it amusing. Men are supposed to be made out of steel or something. I just sat there. I just held Shelby's hand. There was no noise, no tremble, just peace. Oh god. I realize as a woman how lucky I am. I was there when that wonderful creature drifted into my life and I was there when she drifted out. It was the most precious moment of my life. Steel Magnolias

2)Maggie Carpenter: A girl can't get married in flannel! Runaway Bride

3)Noah: I am nothing special; just a common man with common thoughts, and I've led a common life. There are no monuments dedicated to me and my name will soon be forgotten. But in one respect I have succeeded as gloriously as anyone who's ever lived: I've loved another with all my heart and soul; and to me, this has always been enough. The Notebook

4)Justin Matisse: Dancing's just a conversation between two people. Talk to me.
Hope Floats

5)Buzz: I'm Buzz Ravenal. Let's dance. Carson: I'm sorry, I'm engaged. Buzz: Well, I'm sorry you're engaged, too. Shag

6)Annie: What? What's that face? George: It's nothing. Annie: Oh, this is going cost you more money. George: No. It's just... I know I'll remember this moment, for the rest of my life Father of the Bride

7)Kellie Frost: I don't like Bull Riders... They're little men with big egos. Besides, he's got one of them skinny butts like the rest of em'. Kelly's Mom: Honey, I judge a man more by the size of his heart then his rear... It's likely to do you more good.
8 seconds

8)Jamie: How can you see places like this... and have moments like this and not believe? Landon: You're lucky to be so sure. Jamie: It's like the wind. I can't... see it, but I feel it. A Walk to Remember

9)Sensitive Moviegoer: Now, I'm going to go back inside and finish watching "Sleepless in Seattle". Nobody screw with me How to Lose a Guy in 10 days

10)Buddy: Buddy the Elf! What's your favorite color? ELF

11)Chazz Reinhold: HEY MOM! CAN WE GET SOME MEATLOAF? Wedding Crashers

12)John Bender: Does Barry Manilow know that you raid his wardrobe? the breakfast club

13)Daniel: Wouldn't a fly swatter be easier?
Miyagi: Man who catch fly with chopstick accomplish anything.
Daniel: Ever catch one?
Miyagi: Not yet.lub
The Karate Kid

So, I am thinking of a new post to put up since my American Idol post below has not been so popular. Thats okay though.

Whats going on with me these days? Working, wondering why there are so many new brain tumor diagnosis, wondering where we will be living in a few years, adoption papers, spending time the husband and puppy, adoption papers, blogging and adoption papers have been the priorities.

FYI, after eating pizza Sunday night after the neighborhood drama, I swore I would not get on the scale. I did tonight! Woo, its still a good thing..Down 1.4 pounds making the total 12.6 pounds so far. Since you are my accountability, I thought I would share that with you. Those 100 calorie packs rock!

Neighboorhood Drama

There was drama yesterday. Next door. I mean right next door. The house to the left of us whose occupants just moved in. Michael posted it at his blog, which you can find here! It was pretty wild. Its a shame I met more neighbors after a dramatic event than I have in the past 2 years!

What I did today

More random thoughts, sorry if this is confusing.

Okay, so I worked all weekend. It was busy. My customer service probably was not at its best because of how busy I was. Many brain tumors were diagnosed this weekend. My patients parents received bad news and I am not sure they have accepted, thats bothered me. Saturday night was busier but not has difficult.

I carpooled with a friend and I am so glad she drove Sat night. I got home around 810 am and got ready because Michael and I planned on visiting a 900am service. It takes about 6 minutes to get there from our house so even though we left at 850 we were able to get a seat say hello to someone and enjoyed the service.

We attended Heritage Pres Church and this was quite a friendly bunch. The pastor is a jolly man who I really enjoyed and after the service a lot of people welcomed us. At the beginning of the service, the pastor asked us to raise our hand if we were first time visitors. I usually dislike this but this time, as our hands were raised, children brought his a loaf of handmade bread. That was neat.

I enjoyed the choir and traditional music. It was odd because a lot of the music was played at Caties funeral back in January. By the way, the family is doing well for those who were following her.

Back to the church, the 9am service is smaller than the 11am service which we will need to try. This church has a choir which Michael likes, an active women's ministry and a lot of family gatherings. I have never heard of this but they had dinner at the church on Sunday and Wednesday.

I think we both enjoyed it. There is a Methodist and Baptist church that we want to visit, but we enjoyed today!

Thursday 13 is back! Woohoo

Whats going on peoples? I am working friday and saturday nights and then I have Sunday off with hubby. Should be fun. The adoption paperwork is coming along.. I am about to make lots and lots of copies.

Work is stressful. Brain tumors are everywhere and I really dont know why.

These are my random thoughts, so a lot of my thoughts are not in order!
I am tired of reading about Anna and Brittany but unfortunately the majority of my news comes from the CNN online entertainment page.

Is there any news that you find interesting????

etc

Well, the poll below shows You've Got Mail in the lead..Have you voted yet?

Lets see. Whats going on? Working extra this week at work! Was able to see my sister for dinner this week was fun! There are a lot of brain tumors being diagnosed which sucks. Sorry to write that but it bums me out! My house is still not clean but I can imagine it spotless, does that help?
Sometimes, I wonder if I am not crazy. Seriously. Right now, I am in a really good mood for no reason. Perhaps it was because Michael, Lucy the dog, and I got to catch on DVR stuff today. I don't know. Perhaps its because we are really getting into the paperchase with the adoption stuff. Or perhaps its because I am too dang tired right now.

I'm still bummed Thursday 13 is going away but I am participating in other memes ( just google daily meme)
Ten for Tuesday

Where on your body do you have a scar, and what caused it?
a)on my left knee when I climbed on a riding lawnmower while the engine was hot when I was 6
b) back of left hand. I put a car cigarrette lighter on it and pushed down to see what shape it was. didnt know it was hot..i wont tell you how old I was

Soup
What is something that has happened to you that you would consider a miracle?
I love to tell this story because its amazing and true.It was sophomore year of college. I was driving to nashville from jackson in ice and snow by myself with no phone and skidded and landed in the other lane in the mud. A man stayed with me and helped for almost 2 hours.I did not know him.He was so nice and gave me advice especially about wearing good shoes in bad weather. I was so thankful and so relieved because i had nothing on me. He left and his license plate said WINGS...i know it was an angel.
ALso, when I was 6, my sister fell out of a 2 story window and landed 6 inches from the air conditioner..She was ok!

Salad
Name a television personality who really gets on your nerves.
Sometimes Rosie O but other times I like her... Andy Dick bothers me

Main Course
What was a funny word you said as a child (such as "pasketti" for "spaghetti")?
not sure i had any but i loved when my brother went to lunch with us and the waiter asked him if he wanted soup or salad.wes said Yes Please! He thought it was a Super Salad! It took me a long time to pronounce dossier this year. I will come back to this

Dessert
Fill in the blank: I have always thought _the Washington Redskins were from the state of Washington...apparently they are not

American Idol recap

Lets see how long my favorites stay. Here are my top 4 pics!

Jared
Lakisha
Blake
Jordin

Let me say that I really like Paul, but I dont think he will be in the finals and I hope the ozzy guys stays around a while. I like his personality

American Idol

We have watched the dudes and now we have to watch the DVR for the second half of the girls today. I was disappointed with the majority of the guys and I disagreed with judges on a few. One of favorites Is Jarod this year, I think he has a great voice! I really liked Paul Kim in the auditions, but he did not perform well at all. The girls have got the boys beat this week. Chris Sigh, the dude that looks like jack osbourne, does have a fun personality. I like him, but I don't think he will make it to the finals. I also liked Sundance in the auditions but I don't think he will make it to the finals..I will make my prediction after watching the rest of it this week.

I really thought the bald headed dude was wrecking my wedding song when he took on Edwin McCain. By the end of the performance, I was liking it. I did not like the amount of eye make up. He looked like Peter Furlor of the Newsboys. I am not saying that's bad, but....

The girls so far have had 2 awesome performances so far, will it continue? Leslie wont last long no matter how much I like her hair color. She reminds my husband of Mary Stuart Masterson. Nicole wont last long either. Melinda reminds me of someone, can anyone tell me who? It may be one of the girls from the original Real World, but its bothering me. I was hoping Antonella would have done better because I did not like her friend on the auditions and would love to see her go far..

Until I finish watching,

Amy who is still sad that Thursday 13 is over!

Todays Agenda

I worked last night and after coming home from a very busy, tiring shift, I slept until about 2pm. Woke up, got ready and went to the gym. Michael and I then picked up my sister Kelly from the airport who is here for work. We had her checked into the hotel and then had dinner at Checkeurs, a very nice seafood restaurant near the hotel that reminded us of our Disney Cruise..It was awesome and if anyone in Atlanta needs a restaurant for a special occasion, let us know. Then, I took Kelly and Michael for a tour of the pediatric hospital I work at and then we ended our evening. We really had a good time!

For the latest poll, it looks like Steel Magnolias won as the best Julia Roberts movie! Keep watching for the next poll!

Nicholas Sparks

Dear Nicholas Sparks
I would like to request that you provide a box of tissues with each book and or dvd that you sell! After watching the Notebook at least ten times, the tours poured again today! Its not that I don't like your books, but I think you should have at least a warning prior to the reading or watching! Even watching A Walk to Remember, every emotion was experienced. I enjoyed it so much I swore I would name my first child Landon Carter. I write this on behalf of all people who read your books and movies!

Thank you!

Happy New Year!

Huh? Today is the day to celebrate the Chinese New Year! We are embarking on a life changing journey and hope to encorporate some traditions into our lives this 2007!

What not to see at work

As you know, I am a pediatric nurse at the nations number 3 Childrens Hospital in the country! SO it shocked me to see the following at work

We are sorry! Due to unforeseen problems, please do not use the water in your sink or toilet for drinking purposes. Please fill up your bathtub with water as this will be used to flush the solid matter down.

We then provided water to all of the patients and families. I had to laugh out loud because I felt like I was on Survivor..A water line broke and all hospitals in the viscinity were affected..That sign got quickly removed.

Also tonight, I had a patient who was Spanish Speaking only. The chart read! Mom speaks only Spanish. She can not read either language. Please provide handout materials on nasal gastric tubes for her to study..Signed, the doctor!
I forgot to tell you that yest another post has been made to adoption blog and this one has been done my Michael himself..Check it out here!

my husband

I don't think I have told you guys about my husband. Of course you can get to know him at his blog over at Valtool's box but I want you to hear from me. My husband rocks and I say this for no particular reason! He is just a wonderful man. I am so proud of him. As you know, he is diabetic and it hasn't always been under the best control. We can both say that his diabetes is great right now! He has been disciplined and has been eating right and exercising and it makes me happy. He has always been the man of the house, but he has done so good lately. He has been making wise decisions and has really taken an active role in the adoption process or "paperchase" as some people call it. He does well with Lucy (the basset hound) and I have no doubt he will make an amazing father in the near future. Mind you, he has his weaknesses just like I do, but right now his strengths are shining and that's always a good thing!

Make sure you say hit to Michael and read his views on current events!

Random Thoughts

A) as Michael posted in the adoption blog, we had a very productive day. it felt so good to get so much done
B)I called in to work Tuesday night so that I would be awake for our busy day. I do not regret it. The next day, I found out I had pink eye and have to miss another day..Ironic?
C)A bit disappointed in American Idol. I am glad Sundance made it through, but I liked the long haired hippy dude and the guy that cut at the very end.I Cant believe there was so much attitude in some of the girls..I forgot her name but the "God likes good people" bothered me to no end.
D)Putting eye gunk in sucks
E)We really had a good day together and played trivia last night but we did not win.We had fun and had a good conversation. We talked about our life plans You know the ones you have prior to the wedding..I just wanted to check in on things and I was happy with it!

Todays blog entry

Weight loss since diet began - 7lbs and that includes eating out! Woohoo

Funny moment at the gym (Ladies Workout express): As I am on one of the weight machines, a lady comes up and uses the leg press. She looks at me and says " Honey, I am so sorry. I have got the worst gas..Must have been that tub of popcorn yesterday". I wasn't there much longer

Ladies and gents: I am now participating in the grocery game found over at www.thegrocerygame.com
The lady who runs it takes whats on sale in stores around you and matches them to coupons in your paper and you save tons of money and time. I saved 20 dollars at Publix today. Check her out it. It costs 1 dollar for a 4 week trial. If you try it, please refer me with my email at amyschristopher@comcast.net

Hubby had a post this week regarding comments made at his restaurant..Check them out! I promise you a laugh! You can find him at www.valtool.blogspot.com

Weight loss update

So, to make this short rememeber when I had to go to the oncologist to follow up with a funky White blood cell count? The benefit to that visit was the doctor had me make an appt with the nutritionist and I went a few days ago..It was so nice to have one on one time and work out a diet plan for me as I have a odd schedule with working nights and such. By the way, I just turned down going to days!!!! What have I done?

Anyway, she made me to examples of diets, one when I am working and one when I am not. I am pretty much being put on a 1600 calorie diet with a bit of wiggle room. Because of this, I am alllowed to splurge 1 day a week or 2 actual meals a week..Trivia will continue.
The first 2 days have been good. If I can get used to not eating as much, this may be succesful. I will post my diet examples a bit later..

Wish me luck and if you have creative, high protein snacks, let me know!

Hey guys, just wanted to remind you that new videos are up at Michaels weekly Friday Flashback which you can find here! Talk about old school!

Also, there is a new video on our adoption website which you can find here!

Things I Live for

Okay, got this from Thoughts of the Mama
This may be another Jerry Maguire moment and I am sure these will change when we get our daughter.

1) I love turning the car into our street and seeing my Michael's car in the driveway.I love when he comes home early

2)I love trivia. I love when we play with others but its nice sometimes to just chat

3) our drives to Florida when I am awake and not sleep deprived. Every now and then we get into a great discussion that is just awesome

4) I love the fact that hubby has gotten silly in the last 5 years. This may sound strange but its made me love him so much more..It was fun taking pics with the characters this year at Disney World..My hubby is going to be one awesome dad

5)I love being honest with myself without sugar coating things..This is when I have my reality checks

6)When our nieces and nephews see you and they hug you because they want to and not because someone told them to or because they are going to get something

7) Chilling in the TV room with Lucy the basset hound when she is quiet

8)I live for a clean house. Its rare but when it happens my mood is awesome/

9) i live for our adoption paperwork. everything we do is one step closer to meeting our sweet daughter and bringing her home to friends and family

10)i live for memories. I love to share memories with friends and families. Every moment of my life has the potential to be a awesome memory. I get to choose how awesome it will be

11) Moments at work when you know a parent trusts you with their fears, thoughts and joys. What an awesome job I have and what wonderful families I have!

12)Sleeping in

13)making a meal that MIchael loves. He is very good at complimenting

14)I love moments where it seems Michael is reading my mind which is frequent. This can be buy picking out a dvd to watch, where to eat, what to cook.. We are quite similar at times

15)Sunrises, flowers, snow. Nature. Sometimes you have to take a moment to thank God for what is in front of you. There is no other way for the beautiful environment around me. I love those moment and I want to savor each one!

Fridays Feast

Feast One Hundred & Thirty
Appetizer - Have you been sick yet this winter? If so, what did you come down with?
Ive been dizzy and had a headache (not at the same time) and maybe a cold, but nothing drastic! Its been good..I haven't had to call into work at all

Soup - What colors dominate your closet?I am a neutral, fall kind of chick. Dark blues, burgundy, green, tans but then I have the scrubs that are all colors

Salad - How would you describe your personal "comfort zone"?
You can tell when I am out of my comfort zone or at least people who know me can. I like to be with people I know and trust. People that love me unconditionally. Face it, I know I am odd. My sense of humor is whacked..If I can be myself, then I am in a comfort zone. As much as I like to talk, I don't like to be the center of attention around strangers.

Main Course - On which reality show would you really like to be a contestant?
Since I have to lose weight for the adoption and for health, the biggest loser as long as their were not cameras..HA!

Dessert - Which holiday would you consider to be your favorite?
My favorite time of year is from Thanksgiving until the day after Christmas..its my favorite Season. Lets not get started. I love people watching and being with family

What makes a good blog?

What makes a good blog? What makes you come back and visit day after day? Is it the colors, is it humor, is it pictures?

I wondered this myself. Some blogs I read are friends and I love to know whats going on with them. Some bloggers are so good with words that they make me laugh out loud. I have had blogs of the day and they are ones that just interest me. I love the crazy layouts with music and graphics but I also love simple designs that have substance?

What is that interests you? Is there a blog that isnt on my blogroll that is so neat I just have to visit?

Blogging is now my addictive hobby. I love to read blogs, I love to get responses so that I can respond back. I love blogs that challenge me to think and I love the ones that encourage me!

If there is a blog I have missed, please let me know and why I need to stop by!

Biography reading list

Well, Just got back from Barnes and Noble where I went to buy my Calorie King book that I learned about at my meeting with the nutrionist yesterday but more on that later.

My first choices for my biography goal are:
The Life and Time of Walt Disney and
Narnia: The life and imagination of CS Lewis!
Last chance to sign up for Fantasy Survivor which starts tonight! Should be a fun game and a couple of bloggers have already joined. Its free and addicting..Check out the post below for info on how to sign up. I would sign up even if you dont think you can play the whole season! Good luck!

Music

Okay, I know my titles to my entries are oh so not creative but oh well. I was in the car today on the way to the gym when a Glass Tiger song came on? Do you remember them? I started thinking that its amazing how one song can take you back to 10-15-20 years ago? I can remember being in our "playroom" in Midlothian Va and listening to Madonnas "True Blue"? I can remember who I was hanging out with when Armageddon came out and Aerosmiths song was popular?

What about you? Do you have certain songs that bring back a certain memory? At Caties (a patient of mine) funeral they played Amy Grants Fathers World and I know that memory will always be with me? I am interested in what songs bring back what memories!

On another note, I do not watch football. I did know who Mr Manning was as I went to school in Tn and have knows since then. I am just saying that at the beginning of this season, I declared the Colts the winners and many people laughed at me! Im just saying!

Not much going on here. I am still working on putting Christmas stuff up. I bought new boxes to help organize it but I havent completed the task!!

cant get much more random than this!

Do you remember encyclopedias? Do you remember getting a new yearly one every year? I wonder when I quit looking at them. I wonder if kids still use them.. Im just wondering..

Prayer Request

I hope a lot of people stop by and can say a quick prayer for my dad.Apparently he failed his cardiac stress test and is having a procedure. This is the man that back in June fell through our deck while working on it and broke his foot. It still hasnt healed and hes a healthy, young man! Say a prayer wont you..I dont know much yet!

Okay, talked to mom and its being done on Friday! He doesnt want to talk about it so I will just pray for him! I love my dad....I could blog about him all day

If you guys like 80s music, check out hubbys Fridays Flashback over at Valtools Box

I typically dont like to advertise for him but he doesnt do it and hes had some really cool videos! Please stop by and say hello!

Thursday, February 01, 2007

I have been so obsessed with Wordless Wednesdays, Thursday 13 and Friday Feast that I havent really blogged about me.

Michael and I are doing well..Still waiting on adoption papers but you can read all that at the adoption blog here

Lucy and the kitties are good. The Christmas tree is down and placed in the bag (thanks for the tip mom and dad) and now I can clean that room thouroughly. Its bad that we have Christmas gifts still in that room..I know..Perhaps if I confess, I will quickly get these things done.

I have failed a few of my resolutions and I am not that upset. Michael and I have been eating better at home. Its much improved but we have a lot more to work on. We still play with weekly trivia and we are going to a Superbowl party at a coworkers this weekend..Thats really about it, I guess. I have many thoughts about things I have read or have seen, but that can wait until I wake up later!!!

Good night!
Who is going to win the Super Bowl?
the Bears
the Colts
I dont care
I only watch the commercials
