Aw, I'm still here. I have not worked on any of the things I want to work on, but my mind is planning on getting motivated. I have so many things I want to start, and I just don't know which one to start. Any understand that?

I am getting ready to start a new Bible Study Wednesday and then we leave for a long weekend to Florida to visit with family which should be relaxing and entertaining at the same time. I have literally had no free time to hit the gym and my feet are killing me. I am putting off going to a podiatrist for sooo many reasons, but its getting bad and I am just going to have to make an appt!

I'm find so many new blogs and I will have to share some of them with you soon!

Sept Challenge

I read a blog about a Sept spending challenge and I will participate. The idea is you spend the next 2 weeks organize and planning and as of Sept you try as long as you can not to purchase anything. Now there are some things you are allowed to purchase such as

gas for car
milk
fresh veggies
meds or things of emergent nature
planned activities such as church function, preschool payment or weekly childcare

You can also buy things if you plan your coupons and sales so they are free!

So I will be stocking up with coupons and planning, and will see if I can make it a week or 2 without non necessary shopping! Anyone else want to try?

I was lucky to have been given an opportunity to read and review this book and was able to get a free copy in return. This is my 3rd PJ book by Susan Warren and I was once again not disappointed. PJ is such a real character. She is funny and gets into trouble like the rest of us but sometimes seems to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. If you are fan of Christian fiction, get started with Susan Warrens books! What I love about this author is that she throws in details so that we can really get to know the character, you get to know how she thinks and why she does what she does! Another excellent book by Susan. If you love reading about characters who gets whispers from God in various ways, you have to read her books! ANother thing is that her ending never end like I expect! I love it! Dont forget to keep reading to learn how you can win a Kindle!

I'm back. I miss blogging. I spend way too much time on facebook, don't you? Between frontierville an keeping up with friends, I just spend more time on social things and not the things I want to focus on!
I'm mentally struggling with a lot of things and if you have been a reader of my blog then you have read a lot of this before!
1) I could be a better mom. I love my job as a mom. I could do better. We all can. I am whining or going into some deep depression, just wish I could do more!

2) and these are in no order what so whatever. I could be serving God a lot more. I could be giving more. I want my daughter to see my giving and I want to be an example. But I am not. That has to change

3) I'm tired of being a fatty. You have heard that before. Plump, fluffy, there are many words but I am just FAT! Another example I don't want my daughter to see. I joined a gym again so lets how this goes. I know how to exercise. I know unhealthy foods. Now what to do hmmmmm.

4) Struggling with lifestyle. Keeping a clean house, getting organized, loving my pediatric nurse job

Now with that being said,
I love my life. I love my husband. I love my sweet girl who is blossoming every day and coming up with new words and new ideas. Our new funny phrase is You've got to fight for your right to Party! She is too cute!!!

So hopefully I will begin to blog again about whats in my head and hopefully some of you can hold me accountable!!

Havent posted here or facebook lately.
Still working on weight loss. I see a pattern. I did great my first month, dropped 20 pounds and then I had a bad day that turned into a bad week and well you see where this is going. Every time I diet, I hit 20-25 pounds and this is the end of the healthy dieting. Ugh Hoping for better updates soon.

But I will say, low carb dieting does work!!

I will get there!

A Distant Melody Book revie

Below is some info the publishing gave me. I am so thankful to be given the opportunity to read and review some of the best Christian Fiction out there. I am pretty late with my review so I apologize.

A Distant Melody is a great read with awesome dialogue among characters and a creative story line. I will be honest. Historical fiction is not my favorite but you have to read this. She takes you right back to WW2. I cant wait to read more Sarah Sundin!! Shes being added to my list of favorite authors and this is only the first book of hers that I have read.

This book has a great story line, the main character has to be make a big choice. I am not spoiling it for you but if you want other reviews you need to go visit others on the blog tour!

Beaching on

Im still South Beaching. Friday will be 3 weeks and this is totally doable. Love it. I have tried to do a walking video 1-2 times a week but hope to find time to do more. I do laps at work with friends and my other coworkers do lunges. My next goal is to 10,000 steps a day. I'm lucky that my work provided awesome pedometers that actually downloads it to a website.

So if you have any favorite no carb recipes or favorite exercises or videos let me know. I'm always looking for books to read as well or movies too.

phase 1 not ending quite yet

So technically phase 1 is over and I can start bringing back carbs one at a time. After reading words from the South Beach author, I may stay on a bit longer. He says those with a high BMI can and should stay on for an additional week or 2! we will see

13 pounds is what I have lost since starting the diet 2 weeks ago. This might be the time that I lose all this weight..Could it be? I love the discipline that has gone with it..

Phase 1 almost over

Phase 1 of South Beach will be over tomorrow which means Fri I can start to have good carbs.. Im not sure I want to because I feel comfortable on this part of the diet..But I know the weight loss will stop if I do. LynnMarie and I went to the zoo and had a packed lunch today. I had turkey wrapped around string cheese..

The scale showed a 10 pound loss today and I am loving that. Not that I can feel it yet, because I cant but because I have been disciplined for almost 10 days. This could work. And I haven't reached phase 2 of the diet yet. Next Friday I will be having a sweet potato. Staying away from then bad carbs but adding one a day I think!!

Work gave us pedometers and an opportunity to track our steps online which is awesome. Lots of us are competing for the most steps. Oh I have a long way to go!

Carb Free 7 days later

You know what that means? That means in 7 days I can start slowly having carbs. I'm thinking we will start with a sweet potato.

All in all, this has not been bad. But I can not wait to eat healthy carbs. I have done the Leslie Sansone Walking video twice and it was fun!!

Tomorrow, I am hoping I will be awake enough to go to the park with LynnMarie!

What have I been eating? Lots of eggs, cheese and meat at breakfast. Ive had turkey burgers and veggies for lunch and tonight I had squash and a breadless burger for dinner. I find that cheese and nuts are the best snack for me right now. I love string cheese and the Lite Mini-Cow wedges!!

So thats my update. currently 8 pounds lighter!

Day 5

Yesterday included eggs and bacon for breakfast and left over chicken and beans for lunch. Snacks included cheese, nuts and sugar free desserts.

Last night we did the Sweet Tomato thing and it was great..had a great salad, a sugar free mouse and a bake potato without the potato. I just mixed the toppings which fixed that craving.

Today I made a ham, cheese, egg, mushroom omelets and hope to drink lots of water today.
I also bought a great walking DVD and hope to try that out during LM's nap time!

Day 3

Well today is day 3 of no carbs and so far so good. Yesterday, LynnMarie and I hit the grocery store for some staples like cottage cheese, chicken, hamburgers veggies, tomato sauce and stuff.

Dinner last night was green beans, chicken breast sprinkled with taco seasoning, and then added mozzarella cheese and salsa..Ok that was good and then dessert, oh dessert!

I would not have believed this was diet food. I melted a sugar free fudgsicle for 10 seconds and the added 2 tbsp p butter ( the kind thats just peanuts and oil) and 2 tbsp and FF Cool Whip (you do got 100 cal of free carbs)..This was sooooo good.

This morning, we had scrambled eggs with cheese and bacon and will have left overs for lunch and then back to work.

I will weigh on Friday and am hoping for at least a 5 pound loss. We will see!

Has it really been 2 months since I have posted? Crazy! Its now Spring in Atlanta, everyone is healthy at the time and I have thankful for that.

Not much has been going on. Still working night, still married to my Michael and still in love with the sweetest 2yo ever!!!

I have decided to go South Beach. Seriously, I am going to try. I have A LOT of fatness to lose and I want to be here for a very long time so I need to get my act together. This day 1.5 for me and I am still doing research to make sure I am doing what I should. My problem is I get too hungry and then I fail. Just had a handful of almonds so hopefully that will last.

DO you have any good carb free meals that you want to share? I just eliminated 200 blogs from my bloglines but I am ready to start reading again so if you have a blog that you update frequently, share it with me or share a blog that is a must read! So that's if for today. I am hoping some of my new readers will also be on the weight loss journey and can help me feel accountable

Today we woke up late so we literally skipped breakfast but for lunch I had a large amount of cooked broccoli and sliced turkey! I have had cheese and almonds for snacks and for dinner (I'm working night shift) I will have a Cobb Salad that my husband bought me!!!

This book is another chapter in the life of PJ, a wonderful, interesting character who seems to have her own way of doing things, but it always seems to work out. PJ struggles with trusting God, like most of us, which is another way that I can relate to her! Another great read by Susan!!! Im loving these books!!! You never know what PJ is going to get into or where she is headed. PJ is misunderstood by many but really does have good intentions.

Fire

This Wed as I was walking into work, I got a call from my sister telling me to call her ASAP but that everyone was ok. I called her back only to hear that my parents home was on fire! Horrible phone call. We are thankful the fire damaged the house and not my family nor their spirits. Wow. I sit here in Atlanta, unable to go home, but am thankful for the family that is helping.

God is wonderful. Had my mom stayed in the home 5 more minutes, she would have died. Had she picked up the grandkids earlier, I cant even fathom. My parents are starting over. Its a very surreal thing to sit and type this. They are tearing down and building up. My parents emotionally sound wonderful. But God is God and he knew about this fire long ago. All of my moms family lives in Edgewater. I am so thankful that my Grandma had so many kids, as so many of them have helped from the time of the accident.

Pray for them, the entire family. MOm lost her sister to cancer Christmas day, her oldest brother is in hospice care and her mom is suffering from dementia and is now is an assisted living home. satan is trying to stomp all over this family, but that's not gonna happen.

I'm sad. My dad tells me,it was just things. I was more concerned about my parents emotional health than the house. I still wonder if they havent had the "shock" of it all, or if God has just really poured a lot of peace all over them. I am thankful the family Bible was untouched but many pictures will have to be replaced. YOU see it was just a house, but it was my sense of comfort. I always felt at home there, that's just the kind of environment my parents built. and i know it will be built again with the new home.
I am sooo very thankful that everyone was okay.

Last night as I tried to sleep, I decided to get caught up on my Bible study which meant starting the book of Hebrews. I prayed as I always do, that I will hear His voice and learn something new and here is what I read last night

Hebrews 3
1Therefore, holy brothers, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom we confess. 2He was faithful to the one who appointed him, just as Moses was faithful in all God's house. 3Jesus has been found worthy of greater honor than Moses, just as the builder of a house has greater honor than the house itself. 4For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything. 5Moses was faithful as a servant in all God's house, testifying to what would be said in the future. 6But Christ is faithful as a son over God's house. And we are his house, if we hold on to our courage and the hope of which we boast.

Yes it was just a house, but it was a home full of memories and love and my parents worked so hard to make it that way.

Music that encourages

I am really encouraged by music,c, any type, sometimes its just the mood I am in. This moment, now I am encouraged by Mandissa, whose single "He is With You" just reminds of the fellowship God desires with us. It also talks about joy that comes in the morning, after the darkness.

My family experienced darkness today. No one was hurt, but a tragedy none the less, that's effected be greater than I thought. We are okay and joy will come in the morning, but yet, my heart is still heavy.

Jimmy Buffet has encouraged me, other musicians encourage me although theses days I mostly listen to country and contemporary Christian. What artists, songs or lyrics encourage you?

I am not even sure anyone still reads but, I like many others, spend a lot of time on facebook. Which is sad, because I loved this blog and the friends I have through it. Let me know if you are fb by the way.

I'm still adjusting to motherhood. My daughter is my joy. I am still working on weight loss, I climbed right back on the wagon and maybe I will use this blog as accountability.
We are gearing up for our daughters first birthday party in March along with her first cruise.

This world is a scary place. Each and every day I read and hear of more sadness and each day I pray that my friends and loved ones get to know Jesus!

Hopefully I am out of my blogging funk. Hey its Christmas time, no yucky attitudes around. Having a blast with LynnMarie. She has seen Santa Clause (check out www.thechristopherfamily.blogspot.com ) and is getting used to the Christmas tree in the house. She loves the stuffed Christmas toys that move and sing and just finds joy in everything.

One of the things I dreamed about while waiting to become a mom, was Christmas time and all the things that you can do and all the things that Christmas is about and sharing that with my child. It makes my heart smile to know our little girl is home this year and is going to be showered with love ( gonna get some presents too.

Just checking and thought I would ask a Christmas question?

What is your all time favorite Christmas movie? My husband might say Die Hard (ha) but feel free to get as cheesy as you can!

Christmas Traditions

We are leaving next Tuesday evening for our trip to FL for Thanksgiving. This will be our first trip home for a holiday since we have been married, over 8 years ago. I am very excited and anticipating this wonderful experience with Michael and sweet LynnMarie!

Do you have any Thanksgiving traditions, what do you do leading up to CHristmas? I have to figure ours out. I have so many planned but would like to really simplify things as its not about all the things you do for the Holiday, but remembering what its all about and that is the one thing I want LynnMarie to remember!

Keep praying for us! LynnMarie has had a nasty cold/cough/congestion for 7 days now and Michael is sick as well!

I swore I would not get sucked into facebook and neglect my blog which is what has happened. Its so sad since I love blogging and getting to know bloggers and whats going on in their lives.

Loving the weather, loving my family and my little girl. I have already experienced many of the things I have dreamed about and had other surprises. 2 weekends ago, LynnMarie got sick. It was not as bad as it could have been, but the nurse in me started guessing what was wrong. She woke up one night crying so hard she threw up all over me..After getting us cleaned, we first rocked in her nursery and I tried to sing almost every song I could remember. Just some sweet praise music along with some old 80s music that I cant forget the words..I bet we rocked well over an hour and you could tell she did not feel good. But we rocked and her eyes closed and every few minutes, she would smile. She was getting comfortable. But no sleep.

SO we went downstairs and watched the Mickey MOuse Clubhouse movie and other cartoons and even played until almost 6am. Still worried, I went ahead and took her to the doctor who tested her for stuff and found out she had a virus that caused some sores in her throat which is why she had been crying.. 2 days later she was back to herself. Man, I love this little girl

Did I tell you that for the first time since we have been married, we are going home for Thanksgiving? I am so excited to be around all my family for almost a whole week. And when we get back, its Christmas time baby!!!!!! Yippee!

Fall

We have had some really nice weather in Atlanta this week. Makes me want to be outside all of the time. I want LynnMarie to experience all of God's creation. We had a perfect zoo day yesterday and looking for more fun things to do tomorrow.

So what are some of your fall traditions? Are there recipes that you must make every year? Any projects that you try to do? We hit the Apple Festival in Elijay a few weeks ago and also visited a pumpkin patch at a local church that is always fun..

I love the fall but I am still excited about the fact that Christmas is coming.

Nothing new here, just enjoying life with hubby and baby girl. Enjoying facebook and I am still reading blogs, so if you have new ones that are must reads let me know.

Book Review The Swiss Courier

I'm once again thankful to have been given this book in exchange for a review.I wil be honest, Im usually not one for mystery/suspense but this book was good. I totally recommend reading this or getting it for a friend. The book takes place in the 1940 and involves a character whose job is to collect suspected enemies of the Third Reich. This book took me to another time and another place and the characters were so real. I could very well see this done as a movie.

Wait until you get to meet Gabi and learn about the decisions she has to make!!! If you do get this book, please let me know. I would love to chat with you about it..

Book Review The Christmas Bowl

Ok,so here is my part of the post. My review. If you know me and know how much I love the holidays, then you know I jumped at the chance to read this book. It did not disappoint. It was a quick, light hearted read and that made me laugh out loud. You are right there with the characters. What I loved most about it is that I could recognize how much my own mom wanted the Christmas season to be special,and it kind of gave me a glimpse of her thoughts!

If you have never read this author, go find this book. Now! Its not that expensive and you will fill like you have found a friend. I am so thankful that I have had the opportunity to read Susan's books. I will be catching up on her books ASAP!

Rock Hill, S.C. The city that gave me the earliest memories of my childhood. Actually it was the house in the Wintercrest Subdivision. I had not visited since we left 25 years ago but last week after a trip to the Great Wolf Lodge, I was able to visit a most historical place. My sister,brother and I lived here longer than anywhere else. This is where we learned to stay up for Santa, learned to clean the house by 8am on Saturday mornings so we could watch cartoons, where my sister fell out of the 2 story window and where Christmas became alive to me. It was a most special place. Rock Hill also gave me my first church home, Westminster Pres Church. We actually got to visit there as well, but no pics. Loved my church. I loved Pioneer Girls. I loved the hymns the stories, the activities. I just loved the church and the school. My prayer is that LynnMarie will also find some of the same memories.

The picture on the bottom is of Miss Vera, a neighbor who I had not seen in 25 years..Amazing that she and I connected via email. You see, Miss Vera and my mom did a Bible Study at the house every week when I was younger. Those ladies were such an example to me as a young child. I remember visiting Miss Vera weekly at her home.

It was so nice to visit Rock Hill. Its been nice finding elementary school friends on facebook, we all went to Westminster Christian school. That's really been cool and catching up. I'm sure all of us share some cool stories.

That house sure does look different than it did 25 years ago, but its the same one. Same houses around but different families now occupy them.To see where my family started, where my dad began laying the foundation for our lives was so cool. I am blessed to have the family I do, and a family that has poured love on me!

Great Wolf Concord Trip review

Well last month I was asked if I wanted to visit the Great Wolf Lodge in NC for 2 nights for FREE! I quickly said yes and promised to quickly tell you how our trip was! Was it worth it? YES! Will we go again? YES!!!!

We left Atlanta and headed for Concord about lunch time on Monday afternoon getting to the GW about 4pm. Since school just started, it was not crowded at all, had no problem checking in!! Immediately we knew we were going to have a good time. Definitely wolf/mountain cabin themed and its beautiful. Customer service is obviously important to them, had friendly service from the first person that said hello! If you have never heard of GW lodges you need to know thats its a family resort that has a HUGE indoor water park along with lots of other fun stuff!

After we checked in, we got our luggage and headed to our room on the 4th floor. We got a basic family suite which was 2 queen beds, a pull out couch which could easily fit 6 adults. As a basic room, it was HUGE! LynnMarie had tons of room to practice walking and crawling and play. It also had a fridge and microwave so you could bring food to help save costs, which we did! Actually GW recommended doing that! Awesome! They provided a pack and play that had wolf blankets too!

After enjoying our chocolate covered strawberries that were awaiting us and opening a special gift for LynnMarie, we changed and headed down to the waterpark. It was pretty darn empty but that didnt stop the lifeguards who pretty much circle every area all day.. I felt very secure! We spent a lot of time in the HUGE toddler area which all of us enjoyed..It was a really big water area with slides for toddlers, splashing area and other toys. Actually we spent most of the time there before heading to the big wave pool for a bit..LynnMarie loved all of it and loves to do 1-2-3 go under water!! She is a water baby for sure. It was getting close to 730 so we left and changed for dinner. Since it was late, we first did story time in the lobby and their daily animated show which was fun and they even had a character come out and visit the kids.They invite everyone to come out in their pjs but we did not as we went to dinner afterwards..We ate at the resort and had great service plus a yummy meal. And our server gave LynnMarie a special souvenir as well! Fun times!!!

It was getting late so we went upstairs and had play time and got ready for bed. LynnMarie went to bed rather quickly.. I stayed up for a bit before crashing on the totally comfortable beds.. I loved the beds..The only bed that has ever been more comfortable is the La Quinta in Los Angelas we stayed in after we got home from China!

Tues we got up, got dressed and headed out. Busy day ahead! Had breakfast at Cracker Barrell, went to a Hendricks NASCAR museum and the walked the mall, which was HUGE and had some great stuff in their. Plus we got LynnMarie on a carousel and got her Halloween costume!! Fun times. We came back the hotel for lunch (microwave noodles) and a nap!

We got up and had more pool time and hit the arcade which was huge and had lots of fun stuff. Great Wolf is very family friendly and had LM been a bit older we could have done more. You can make your own stuffed wolf, make your own crocs or play Magic Quest which takes you on an adventure around the resort.

Dinner Tuesday night was at Quaker Steak which is a fun sports bar. We got back, gave Lynnmarie a bath and started packing up.

We took our time getting up the next morning and had Dunkin Donuts for breakfast..There is both a DD and a Pizza Hut on the property along with 3 other restaurants. There is also an ice cream/fudge shop too! We made a final stop at the fudge store before packing up the car!!!

That was the end of our trip but we will go back. There are several of these resorts around the country, I would love to visit the Williamsburg one next. But Concord is 4 hours from Atlanta, perfect for a 1-2 night stay for those of us in Atlanta!!! Please let me know if you have any questions..I warn you. After watching the VMA's last night I started wondering again whats going on in this world? Why is it okay to pretend to pray to Satan or joke about someones bisexuality? This is entertaining. I must say that i have an odd sense of humor and I can accept a lot (too much) but last night was way too far!

Its a scary world that we live in? I can't imagine Jesus walking down our streets..I know he would love all, but I can also see tears in his eyes..We just aren't getting it.

I'm ashamed. Is this the new normal? I know our world has been morally declining for years but I am so scared for LynnMarie. I don't want this to be her normal but I also don't want to shelter her!

Got up this morning and did as much cleaning up as I could while playing with sweet girl. Made it to Weight watchers before the rain started and also learned I lost 3 pounds. Probably would have lost more but I was not disciplined at dinner last night..Oh well, I know what works!

So after meeting and lunch with Donna, we hit the farmers market place for the first time. This company sells baskets on Thursdays for either 10 or 15 dollars. You initially pay a 10 dollar joining fee, but that gives you a nice basket that you bring back and exchange. I had no idea what would be in it so we got home and I went through my goodie bag and found 4 green peppers, 1 pineapple. 5 bananas, 5 apples, 6 potatoes, 2 heads of leafy stuff, 4 small tomatoes and I think something else..For 15 dollars, I was excited. So we have some fresh veggies until we go again.

Now, I did put the basket in the back seat below the carseat but when I turned the corner, I saw LynnMarie eating a leaf!!! Oh Dear!

My review of this book!

Ok so do remember long long time ago watching a really good family show like Little House of the Prairie and loving every episode? Now Sunrise Serenade is like that. Although this book is the 12th in the Home to Heather Creek series, you don't need to start at the beginning. This is a great book to get you hooked on this wonderful family town full of fun characters! I hate to give the story away but I promise you will love it. Its an easy read and I can not wait to catch up myself on the early parts of this series.You will love the author!

Lunch- subway 6 inch turkey on white with mustard, no cheese and lots of veggies
Dinner- Michael made a steak (had small piece), baked potato with steak sauce on it and lots of green beans

Hopefully tonight my snacks at work will be fruit and yogurt and some sort of protein!

When its time to change

Do you ever blog the same things over and over and over! We I am going to do it again. Went back to WW again this week and although I have been paying for it and have been going to meetings, I haven't been on program in a LONG TIME!!!! Anyone else been there!

But I read blogs that motivate me. Reading a guys blog that just 200 pounds with just exercise and eating better.. I read A LOT !

I don't want to be fat, really I don't, but honestly its easier to continue in the cycle I am in than to try to change. But then there is my most precious little girl who I want to have a healthy lifestyle. If I do not permanently change my habits now, then she will also have them and I don't want that.

So baby steps

- Lynnmarie and I will go for a short walk when I get home in the mornings or I will do some sort of exercise
-quit buying dinner at work
-eat veggies or fruit for snacks
-I will drink water, not soda
-i will walk laps at work

Now there are many ways I could go about this but I will stick to WW since it has worked for me. Lynnmarie loves her stroller so there is no excuse to walk. I would like to get to the gym more..I have been one time since April 1.

So I have asked this before, what are some of your tips on weight loss..Anything..Exercise? Recipes? Mental strategies!!

Consignment Sales

So I participated in my first consignment sale this past week, All For Kids, the biggest in this area with over 400 families selling..I was a seller and a buyer and I pretty much broke even!!! I will be much more organized next year as it really is a great way to make some money and find some new things..

LynnMarie got a activity center that she has to stand to play with for $6.00, a drum for $3.oo a few books, a couple pairs of Robeez and other shoes and several Christmas outfits. I figure this is my first baby and I am going to cheese out and put her in a different Christmas outfit the month of December.I may regret it later, so go ahead and make fun of me now!

But I did volunteer and I met some wonderful moms including a facebook friend I have been waiting to meet for so long. I also met some fellow international adoptive moms too!! A good time was had by all..I made about 20 dollars more than I sold but i did get some great things for a great price so I believe it was worth it.. Met many moms who buy at least 500 dollars worth of stuff each sale, they say they get Christmas shopping done and clothes for the whole year!!

If you have never been to one, I recommend it. There are several more coming up in the Atlanta area!

So I randomly start thinking about how good we have it and sometimes, I still complain. I mean, I have clean water. I don't have to walk miles to work. Why do we live where we live? I think about this. There are places all over the world that don't have water, electricity and will never know these comforts. I just don't get. Why do we have so much when others have nothing?

The Bible commands us to help those who have less, but how many of us are really helping? I know I am not..Really, that honesty stinks. So many friends have the passion to help and I am not. I want to but I also have excuse after excuse of why I am not. Are we afraid of letting go of what we have? Man, I am selfish!!

There are soooo many starving people in the world.

How do you help? What can you do to help? Are you like me? Time to do something about it!

Back home from a Fl trip and we are refreshed and happy. My little girl grew up this week and I never knew I would be excited about it..She is mouthing words, giving sloppy wet kisses and laughs at the simple things of life.

It was nice to be home but glad to be back in Ga. Came back on got a nice surprise. We will be going to a resort for 2 nights in NC for FREE and I will be blogging about the experience..We will be going sometime in North Carolina.

This blog has really become boring..Hoping to get some more interesting stuff on here soon. Bought a 90 day David study by Beth Moore and cant wait to dig into it. Let me know if any of you want to do it together..We could do our studies ourselves and then chat about it online.

Crazy 2 nights of work but I survived..Got to love on a squishy alone baby..I don't like babies to be alone but it sure is nice to love on them.Makes me miss my family a bit.

I have the next 2 days off and then I work Thursday and then we head to Florida for a few days..Family is good. Maybe after that I will have something interesting to blog about...

I read this book between 2 12 hour shifts at work..Its a great, easy read, that you don't want to put down. Just to let you know, I'm doing another book give away tomorrow on a book especially for busy moms..Stop by tomorrow and learn more!!!

Just got home from work and I was surprised to see Michael and LynnMarie up. She wasn't acting right last night and Michael was worried..As I expected, he did fine..It was a wonderful feeling to see her smiling and to get a great big hug..I can not believe how much I love this little girl..Its a most amazing feeling.As people told me I would, I can see how my parents did certain things to and for me just because they loved me. I do see my parents in a different light.

Someone asked me what the hardest part has been. She has been a wonderful baby, a very smooth adjustment. The hardest part for me is losing weight again. I was doing so well. Between Michael being in the hospital and not being able to walk, I have found no time to go to the gym. I am sure the time i s there, but I am just not getting there. I'm snacking more which is not good as I want LynnMarie to have good eating habits. We are trying to make sure she gets her fruits and veggies every day..Anyway...

I wish you could all meet this precious gift..Don't forget to check the adoption blog for new pics and updates..

SO what cheap activities are you doing this summer? We have been to the pool a few times and LynnMarie and I go to music/story time at the library.Regal movie theaters are showing free family moves Tues-Thurs at 1oam so I would like to try that again too!!

Make sure you read below to get even more info! What a great book. I was asked to read a non fiction book and review it! Awesome. Ha vent gotten into a nonfiction book in a very long time. Religion save by Pastor Mark Driscoll is awesome. He takes 9 topics that churches have questions on and gives scriptural based answers to them. Its the first time I have personally ever thought thought about what the Bible really says about some of these things. I didn't start reading the book until this week which is unfortunate because there is a lot of good stuff on there. I dont want to give too much info but the author covers topics such as birth control, predesination and even humor in the church. Its not a total philosophical book. In fact, its a good ready and you really want to finish when you start it!!!

I loved it sooo much and I want all of you to go and get it but I also want to give away my copy so leave me a comment at the end of the post and at the end of the week, LynnMarie will draw a winner.

I am personally thankful that Michael is so good with the baby. I am thankful she is home and that she is AMAZING. I am happy that I have a job that I still enjoy!

I am so tired if hearing nothing but sadness, gossip, celebrities and negativity!

Mommyhood

Its Crazy. I cant imagine her not here..I forget what it was like without her. I relive gotcha moments in my head all the time. I wonder why she loves us soooooo much. Big tears are seldom, but crazy smiles occur A LOT!

We are working in routines..Most of the time, I get her up but once dad gets back to work, we will share the load. She sometimes gets up in the middle of the night for maybe a few minutes which includes a heavy diaper and a bottle. When we get up (and lately, I have snuck in her room to quietly wake her up) we change our diaper and play on the floor in our room for a few minutes..Breakfast usually includes some toast and fruit and we know she likes eggs. WE have been watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse while having breakfast and sometimes we watch Dora too!!! What do your toddlers eat for breakfast? IN fact, what is your routine?

Then playtime, lunch and nap. We love music time on Wednesdays and looking forward to more playdates hopefully this summer. We love the pool and cant wait for daddy to join us.

Its crazy how she becomes the priority in your life. You never really stop and think about, she just becomes your life. We have started saying prayers at bedtime and she always has the sweetest smile. We have posted some recent pics up at the adoption blog at www.thechristopherfamily.blogspot.com

She is wonderful. Everything I dreamed of. She is funny, content, doing really well with attachment and bonding, although we are still working on it.

Haven't found time to go to the gym, which is my next priority as well cleaning the house..

I know its a long way off, but I am thinking of Halloween costumes, Christmas season cloths and her first birthday. I have waited for this soooo long, its nice to be home with my baby..

My goal now is to become a mom she can be proud of. I want her to see me giving to others and not being selfish, I want my weaknesses to be her strengths. I want God to just use her and allow us to see what He created her to be.

So now, weight loss, organizational skills and creating a healthy lifestyle physically, mentally and spiritually are my goal!!!

I still cant believe I am a mom. This is sooo much better than babysitting!

Its really nice to be back at work. Love the night shift. Miss my family, but I know MIchael needs time with baby girl and doing well. To think that he hadn't had much baby time before, he is doing great with her!

Its now Tuesday, I have the day off. So after some sleep, I am hoping to take LM to the pool or the park. We will see how it goes. I don't want her in the sun too long.

I have 4th of July off again this year..Nothing special planned, but hoping to find something fun to do soon!

I have 2 book reviews coming up, one is called Religion Saves and it talks about different controversial topics in the church. I'm looking forward to that one. The other book is a mommy book written by an author I have read before. Be on the lookout, I will be giving away my copies.

I need some mental motivation. I have decided that all of my weaknesses could be strengths if I just turned on a little switch in my head, anyone else like that?

Seriously many people who know me know my obvious weaknesses, fear, paranoia, eating habits and organizational skills. I just cant get my house clean. Its like I get one room totally clean and by the time I start the second one, the first one is dirty again. I tried Fly Lady a few years ago, just couldn't do it.. Ugh, its very frustrating. Because I really do desire a clean and organized house and my daughter deserves the best..Not sure how to turn that mental switch on.

Losing weight- have struggled for a long time. Weight Watchers does work. So does regular portion control and exercising. I have done it, why am I not doing it? There are no excuses except laziness.. Once I start losing, I get on a roll but I am a sucker for temptations- showers, ,parties, friends inviting me out for lunch. Ugh, hope to get this under control one day as well.

paranoia- enough said

Fear-We live in a scary world. The economy, nuclear war threats, the prediction of the end of the world. Here is my problem. I have not spent enough time in the Word and so therefore, I just trust everything I read in the news. I'm putting faith in man and not my God.. Have to keep reminding myself that God knows everything. There was never a "before God". He Has and will always be. I haven't been digging into His word like I should and I know that would calm some of my fears.So that's my solution to those fears.

Jon and Kate- I'm one of the many who watched the show. Not surprised by the divorce, but I am sad. The world was just too interested in them. Mind you, they asked for the publicity (raising 8 kids cost a lot of money). But if we had chosen not to watch, could this have been helped. Its hard not to judge, but divorce is sad, praying for them.

Ed McMahon, Farah Fawcett and MJ- wow, what a week. Tired of hearing about all the celebrities..

SO nice to see one his dreams come true. As LM told him this morning, he hasnt had an easy physical experience into fatherhood but that has not stopped him un being the sweetest, silliest dad ever.. We love you Dada!!!

Some of my blog friends have asked me what I do for a living.I am a pediatric nurse but I work on a craniofacial/neuro floor. I work with patients with seizures, mitochondrial disorders, spina bifida, cleft lip/palate and other facial deformities, skull fractures, head injuries and brain and spinal cord tumors.

We also get the overflow patients Which mean we take care of patients with anything like fever and infections, resp issues, blood disorders, broken bones and every now and then we get some neat stuff. For the person not in the medical profession, "neat stuff" would not be that neat for you..

Brain tumors and cleft kids are the ones that I get passionate about. I have gotten close to a lot of my brain tumor patients and have seen them from diagnosis to remission and sometimes, home to Jesus. Both of these families teach me a lot even though they are so different. But both diagnosis can change your life. Cleft surgeries are not only just 1 surgery and then all is well. Sometimes, you get several surgeries over several years and a lot of time you deal with speech delays and other cosmetic surgeries..Love my families. They have taught me a lot.

Brain tumors..Ok, well first of all, they suck. But the families, oh the rockin, awesome families. They teach us nurses so much. I don't know why brain tumors hit the sweetest, loving families who have such strong faith. I just don't know. I don't know why the sweetest families are the ones who lose their babies after many surgeries, chemotherapy and hospital stays..I just don't know. But even the families who have lost children and still keep in touch, find goodness in their sorrow and that helps strengthen my faith. To know God sees the bigger picture when we can't seems to help. We had a patient pass away last week that a lot of nurses took care of. I never did but I always said hello to the family and they were so compassionate to other families.

Connor used to say, "God is good all the time,All the time, God is good" Oh sweet Connor, yes he is!!

Some of you may have seen another one of patients on the news a few weeks ago. Haley and her mom have touched every single life in the hospital Haley is just over a year and has a really yucky stinky tumor with a poor prognosis. But they keep fighting. Haley is a fighter. She has experienced so much and has even scared a few nurses..But they have hope, we have hope..

Please pray for Haleys family.. Hope ya got to see her on the news..

Still kind of odd to read that word. But filling out paperwork that doctors office, I did right mom under my name but I think I was supposed to write mother..Whatever!!

Love LM. I love love love her..I love her smiles, her noises, her dances, her responses, everything about her.

It is crazy. Life really changed once we got her..People were right. My routine changed..My views on things changed. I love Little Einstein, Mickey Mouse cartoon thing and some of her fun toys.

She teaches us things every day..That happiness can come from such simple things..her smile lights up the room...

Going to my first bday party as a mom tomorrow. That doesn't sound right..I will be one of the moms..So very cool!!

2nd week at work was great..Nice to see everyone and be back in the groove. So many random things in my head, perhaps I will be getting them out on the blog soon.

The good news is someone switched with me so I am off Thanksgiving and Christmas this year and boy are we going to have some fun!

No substance lately to this blog. Very Sad..I did asked to do 2 more book reviews which will hopefully come with some free books for my readers..look out..

tomorrow we are having a garage sale here at Casa de Christophers. Hoping to make some money to pay some bills and I am looking forward to simplifying things. We just have too much stuff. Junk. things we have collected over the years that we do not need or use. I mean, how much junk can one house hold? There are things that help us remember Good times, but we even have to much of that ! There are people all over the world ( even here in the good ole USA) that have nothing. nothing. I can not believe how much stuff we have. I feel pretty selfish sometimes when I "want" things.

I go back Sunday night to work, which means Michael gets baby duty. Since he is still on crutches, we are setting up nursery central in the TV room, so that everything will be close by. Of course we have our emergency numbers in case he needs anything, but I think he will be okay. He is still on disability and we are hoping he will get his cast off soon and get back to ambulating better. His blood numbers have started looking better and instead of going weekly, that doctor doesn't want to see him for another month..We will have infections disease and ortho to visit.

its been a crazy month. Stressful, YES? Do I have something to worry about every hour? YES! DO I choose to worry? NO!!!! I think I worry just enough to keep me on my toes. It has been nice to be forced to have quiet time at the house. WE have been watching lots of RED BOX movies and eating dinner at the house..Even though we ate dinner at trivia for 5 bucks (all 3 of us!!!)

LynnMarie is adjusting.Starting Sunday, we will begin our new routine. I am going back full time but will hopefully go to 32 hours once Michael gets back to work.

I am enjoying time with LM and hubby. Ready to go to work. Nervous as heck though!!!

Yesterday was my first day of frugal shopping and I did pretty good. I spent more than most people cutting coupons, researching sales and even looking at some sites..I had all my stores organized but decided to stay with just 2 yesterday, Publix and Walgreens..

So at Publix I got
A1 SteakSauce
6 pack of dial soap
BIG bottle of Kraft dressing
Ball Park hotdogs
something else but i forgot.
I Had 2 bags for 5$!!!!!! Oh so proud!

At Walgreens I only got
Tropicana OJ (2.99- 1 dollar coupon plus 1 dollar register reward)
Colgate (same deal as above)
Because of the RR program, Walgreens has discontinued the rebate program

I took one of the RR from Walgreens at got a printer cartridge refill which was 10 dollar. The cashier found a 5 dollar coupon so I only paid 4 dollars.

Then we ended the day with a free movie from RedBox

So I am going to have to make some rules for our family.
-only use and print coupons for items we may actually use. It may for a different brand but we wont be stocking up for liver or anything
-be careful what I print off the coupon. Its not worth spending money of printer ink to save money at Publix
-Organize my trips
-stock up on the nearly free items
-use what I have on hand and constantly look at expiration dates.
-only buy mi;l 2 dollars or less a gallon (its possible, BJs and Publix)
-something else I learned bananas are very cheap at gas stations..didn't know that but thought I would share my knowledge with you!!

We are home. Christy, you won the book, I will get it to you soon. We had a great time and it was nice to see MIchael relax. He has more drs appts, home health visits and other things to do this week, so please keep praying for him. Please pray his blood levels stay up and his foot continues to heal.

I loved being with family, loved being in Florida. Even took a look at some job openings. Pics to come soon.

Not much going on. Idol has been so biased this season. They pretty much told Kris that Adam was winning and just told him what a great competitor he has been. They got rid of Lil so much earlier than expected. As much as I did not like Alison, I am surprised she left at the time she did. She had a great fan following and a lot of talent for her age.

No spoilers, but I am going to watch the Greys finale. The interview with the Shonda Rhymes )creator of the show) gave some hints and I think I missed a couple. I dont think the show ended the way we all thought it did!!!

Going back to work in less than 2 weeks, looking forward to the income, not worried about the baby, just nervous about the work itself!!!

SO I once again got to read and review a book by Susan May Warren, one of my new favorite authors. Reading her books goes by so quickly and her stories are so easy to visualize. Sometimes, do you feel like you just don’t fit in? You look around you and if anyone knew how difficult it was just to put yourself together, to smile when you feel completely overwhelmed, to even figure out what you were making for supper, they’d know what a mess you were. Maybe you totally relate to those words in 1 Peter – God’s elect, strangers and aliens in the world. Do you feel like when you look in the rear view mirror, all you see are your mistakes?

Maybe not. But if so, then PJ is your gal. I wanted to write a story about the person in so many of us who just wants to get it right…but can’t seem to stay out of trouble. My friend and I have what we call the “stupid mouth” club…and we report our weekly foibles (usually on Monday, after Sunday church!). PJ is our charter member. She’s the girl that changes her mind, always hopes for the best, is always discovering that she is just a little different than everyone else. PJ is us.

And that’s good news. Because God loves PJ. He loves her messiness, and her impulsiveness, her heart bent toward others, the hope that fuels her actions. And He has a plan for PJ – one that includes her weaknesses as well as her strengths.

Yep, I need to hear that – need to hear that I don’t have to be perfect for God to love me, use me, sing over me. Need to hear that although I don’t fit in, well, I’m not supposed to…in fact, I’m supposed to be a little…alien.

I wrote PJ for everyone who feels just a little messy, just a little like they can’t quite get it right. And who needs to hear that God loves them. Period. Full stop. Hallelujah.

Catching up

Just wanted to check in. We are 3 or 4 days in on our trip home to Fl and family feels good. its so nice to see everyone loving on LM. Its also nice that Michael could come. Keep praying that is IV antibiotics are doing their job and that when this first cast comes off, there will be no issues with his foot. He is hobbling around on crutches, but making LM smile all of the time!!

Life is good. This trip makes me want to move home, really move closer to family. We will see! Although, I sure do love my job and friends in Atlanta!!!!

This afternoon, LM goes swimming for the first time!

what a crazy week

First of all, I apologize to all the blogger friends I have. I have not been a good commenter and plan on getting better again soon. I promise I have not forgotten about you!!

What a crazy week. Its been a crazy,fearful, full of praying and crying to God, just crying, laughing, serious, scary, makes you think thoughts you never thought you would be thinking kind of weeks.

Thanks to all who have helped. To all of you single moms out there, ROCK ON!!!

Michael has been in the hospital since Monday night and until yesterday, yucky fear tried to control my spirit. My fear robbed me of joy, and my sweet girl deserves more than that. Some crazy thoughts have run through my head, so crazy I am embarrased to post them. I can not wait to have my Michael home. Life will be different for the next few months, but we will manage.

As much as I have had some really really hard emotional moments this week, I still heard God. More than a whisper sometimes and that makes those moments okay. I will say this, if you are going to ask God for something, give Him time and room to do it. You can not control God or the things in your life.

It was also a humbling week. LynnMarie got to play with several new friends this week. You have to understand, I despise asking for help. I feel like a failure, always have. This was another burden, as I did not want to burden my friends. I can not stand that feeling. Friends took LM for a few hours each day so I could spend time at the hospital with Michael and talk to some of the doctors. Friends, the time you gave me was the best gift in the world. Sometimes, you have to ask for help. Some people need the opportunity to help.

LM and I have some moments of our own. Talking to God together is a precious thing. She has no idea what I am doing, but she gets quiet at the right time. Oh she is the sweetest thing.

So, keep praying for the Christopher family. Gonna leave you with some lyrics that are pretty summing up how I feel these days.

Pray for my sweet sweet husband who is back in the hospital with something going on with his foot and anemia. he has already had a transfusion, bone marrow aspiration and now we are waiting for treatment for his foot.

Honestly, there are too many needs in my heart but God is good and knows all!

TV Show Updates
- We have not watched last nights LOST YET!

-AI- not surprised Matt got the boot. I do think he sounded a lot like Justin Timberlake and he had some solid performances but he just didn't shine like the others. I may be the only non Adam fan out here. He is a great performer, too good for AI. The judges push for him every week and I think they pushed Lil out of the competition. He will probably win, I hope not. AI was meant for undiscovered talent. As nice as this guy is, I cant imagine no one "finding" him yet.
I am not a fan of Alison's, although she can sing for a 17yo. I would be happy for Chris or Danny to win but I totally forgot about Chris the first half of this show.

Biggest loser- I am a Mike fan. I still cant believe Ron is still on.. Helen and Laura and done so well so regardless, I would be happy. Will be surprised if Helen wins though!

Part 2
Weight loss- Lost 1.8 pounds this week, need to lose 13.2 more before the middle of June or else WW is getting cut from the budget. I have not been to the gym, but LM and I have been walking at the park and doing laps which has been fun. If you are in the Atlanta area and want to meet sometime, let me know

Frugal living
I am trying. The easiest thing is unplugging things, trying not to do laundry until evening, and not buying anything. I haven't started the coupon thing because it overwhelms me. I was at Walgreen's yesterday and there was a lady and her buggy with a HUGE 3 ring binder. I asked her if she works there if she was one of those special coupon people. She laughed and said yes she was special. She showed me her layout and said if you can organize your life and give yourself 45 minutes a day, you can save hundreds of month. Its a form of self discipline. Tried printing some coupons and will try to do some more things. We have such a long way to go. The Saturday before Mothers Day we will be having a HUGE garage sale. Getting rid of things to simplify our life and make some money. Everything will be super cheap, there will be some new items and there may be a few families joining us. Let us know if you want to stop by or participate.

Holy Cow, this is the longest post in a while!

The other day I asked your ideas on how to live frugally. Some of you commented here and some found me on facebook. So I thought I would share all the ideas and if you have more, please comment and I will add them as well!!!

Unplug appliances when you are not using them

- Dining out is the easiest place to cut your expenses. The best you can do is to not dine out at all, but that's unrealistic for most families. Here's ways I try to limit spending in restaurants:

1. Order tap water instead of sodas, teas, or adult beverages. Take a look at some of your restaurant receipts and you'll see beverages ranging anywhere from $.99 to over $2.50! For two people that's $5 just fora what might amount to 1 two liter bottle (~$1.50 at the grocery store). Water is free and generally better for you anyway.

2. Kids eat free! Pay attention when you're out and about and memorize places where kids meals are free and when. Around Orlando we now have Steak & Shake free on weekends, Ale House on Mondays, Beef O'Bradys free on some night I can't remember, Logan's roadhouse free on Tuesdays, Jersey Mike's Subs free on Wednesday and Sunday, and on and on and on. This will be a valuable tool when the little one starts eating more....
- 3. If your schedule permits, do your dining out at lunch time on weekdays and use the lunch specials offered by most restaurants. One of my favorites is the Ale House. Each Ale House has a different lunch specials menu. In Waterford Lakes it's a two-item menu priced at $4.95 or $5.95. One item stays the same each day of the week, the other ...

- We consolidate trips when out so as to save gas. We stock up on sale items. A deep freezer can be your best friend. I also buy seasonal items and put them up for later. Ex: Now it's time for strawberries so I am picking them and making strawberry jelly for the whole year. In late June I will buy 2-3 bushels of Corn and make homemade cream ...

- Here's my best money and time saving tool. If you eat chicken...I buy a whole 3 1/2 lb chicken...I use a knife to lift up the skin gently and put garlic and spices and herbs mixed with olive oil under the skin and over the skin (you can also use a rub). I cut up some red potatoes and but some baby carrots. I stick all of this in the crockpot with about a cup of water on low all day. You can make gravy with the juice at the end of the day. Then we have roasted chicken and vegetables for dinner one night. Then I take the remaining chicken and remove it from the bones(discard bones where doggy cannot find). I put it in two separate tupperwares ready for use in the coming day and already shredded. I usually have enough for two more casseroles. You can also use those chicken meal bakes from the store but they are high in preservatives and all the bad stuff... So two other nights of the week I make Chicken Divan, Chicken tacos, chicken stir-fry, chicken pot pie, chicken salad, a literal salad with chicken on top for lunch...you can look on the campbell's soup website for lots of ideas. I can get three meals out of a chicken and I even buy the organic whole chicken for about $9, but you can get a regular roaster for a whole lot less. it is also pretty lowfat. You can do this once or twice a month tops and then the chicken is overkill.

Also, we cut coupons from the Sunday paper and target the ads that we have coupons for in order to get extra savings. I organize those coupons in a little plastic divider I got at K-Mart. You can download coupons on coupons.com as well. It takes time but I do it while watching television...

- Freecycle. It's your best friend for clothes and other kid items. www.freecycle.org will tell you all about it and how to find your local group. NEVER buy new clothing for a child! Except maybe underwear. :)

Plan your meals ahead, at least by the week but preferably by the month. This stops you from eating out due to that "I'm tired and I can't think what to make" feeling so common when you have a little one. Also, look into doing once a month cooking and freezing meals. This and the menu planning has really cut down on our waste of food and eating out unnecessarily.
- I agree with thrift stores, garage sales, etc. for baby clothes. And buy bigger sizes too - not just what she's wearing now.

When I go grocery shopping, I buy things that are on sale and stock up on them. If chicken breasts are on sale, I'll buy about 4 or 5 packages and freeze them. The next week, if it's ground beef, I'll buy that. Buy big packages and separate them and freeze. Buy paper products at Walmart or Big Lots - never buy in the grocery unless they're on a big sale.

On hot days, keep your blinds closed to keep out the sun. Open your windows in the evening when it cools off. Cooler showers. Wash clothes in cold water. Don't run the dishwasher until it's full.

Entertainment - stay home and play games or cards with friends. Watch movies on TV for free. Use the library for books for yourself and LynnMarie.
- Here;s an entertainment tip:

You ever see those Redbox movie vending machines at Wal-Mart? I became the king of those things - but there's the kicker - for FREE!

There are tons of FREE codes all over the internet - I had a stretch at one point of like 11 movies in a row for free.

Good luck - frugal is better!

We read the ads for all the local grocery stores and map out who has the best deals on what we need.

Buy several loaves of bread when they are on sale - then freeze. Defrost a day in advance - perfectly soft and ready to go.

Defrost three to four things for dinner at a time - then you can pick and choose on the actual day from what you have ready to go. If it's frozen, chances are you'll eat out and spend a ton more.

Consider the $1 menu at fast food places before ordering a "meal deal". Many times, they have the same thing in smaller portions and it's only a dollar. We've eaten for $5 by doing this (family of three!)

Forgo the pricey coffees and drinks. At $4 to $5 each, you can pocket that and have date-night instead at the end of the week.
- One change my hubby and I have made is we use cash! Buying stuff with a debit card is like playing with monopoly money. When we spend cash we know that when it's gone, it's gone!

Grocery shopping we buy a lot of store brands shop the bottom shelves in the grocery store. When I find a good sale on chicken, boneless, skinless, I'll buy 10 or 15 pounds at a time and freeze it in 8 oz portions.

Clothes- good will or a good 2nd hand shop.

We used to do the envelope system. We had an envelope for clothes, gas, shoes, groceries, haircuts, fun and a special item that we were saving for. When my husband got paid we would take x number of dollars out and put the alloted amount in each envelope and put it in the drawer. Out of site, out of mind! We never had to worry about overspending, and if we did happen to take from one of the other envelopes, it was already accounted for.

Also made balancing the checkbook sooooo much easier! :) There was only 5 or 6 transactions every month and then the deposits!

- Always use a list when grocery shopping.

Keep a list of some meals that can be made with what you have on hand.
- hang your clothes (indoors on hangers on the shower rods, ropes strung in rafters -what ever you have to do).
- Stock up on clearance items for gifts and create a "gift closet" an area where you can store those items purchased on clearance. When you are invited to a birthday party or need a hostess gift, check your gift closet before running out and impulse buying the first thing you see.

After Christmas sales are the best time to stock up on bath and body gift sets and toys.
- 1. fully utilize the public library
2. make soup once a week
3. shop thrift stores-especially on half off days
4. wash most loads on cold
5. choose a week or so to buy no groceries, rely on what's on hand
instead of meeting friends out for dinner or brunch, do potluck at home

These days, with a baby at home, "dinner and a movie" means a dvd and a favorite plain frozen pizza with our own yummy toppings - about $10 for all this, as opposed to sitter + theater tickets + dinner out = >$100

I will not live in fear

Satan has tried to take my peace this week. Not cool! I have been fearful of things I can not control. I will not live in fear. I will not seek hope in humans because I know where my Hope is.

We are living in what could be considered scary times. Its what you do with it that counts. I can not worry about what might happen because that in turns robs me of joy..

Anyway, I thought I would just share whats in my head today.

The frugal ideas below are awesome. I am compiling a list of whats been giving here, on facebook and other things I have found and will post tomorrow.

Ok, the Christophers are getting on a strict budget like most Americans. My questions are how do YOU live frugally? I am talking groceries, entertainment, clothes. Looking for all of your ideas..I am going to try to find my old post on this.

It feels so wierd to think of myself as a mom, but that indeed what I am! I am loving it. I love the nights when she wakes up. Ok, I will be honest, I want more sleep but I love seeing her cries turn to smiles once I get her diaper changed..Her smile is wonderful.

Struggling- My voice is gone along with a clean house. I have never been a very organized person but now its pretty bad. I laugh when I think of how things have changed and how other things have become bigger priorities.

Random things, we are watching Idol, Hells Kitchen, LOST, Greys, Private Practice and working on getting things caught up..We missed a lot. That's okay. I now watch Little Einsteins and some of the free baby shows on Comcast now!!!! Love it!!

Life with a baby is crazy cool. Working on a pattern or routine. I have way to much in my diaper bag but I will figure that out as well.

Keep praying for the Christopher's. Michael is still not feeling well and out of work for a few days and we need to figure some things. Pray for peace.

Easter

No, I did not forget about this blog. its just been crazy busy around here. Laura asked me if mommyhood was what I expected? Yes it has been everything I dreamed about and more than I could have imagined.

I love everything about it except the shots. That part really stinks.

I am amazed at every smile that she gives me and let me tell you, there's a lot of smiles. We dreamed of our family since we got married. But I have to tell you, I am so thankful for the years of waiting. LynnMarie is our baby. God orchestrated events and brought us together at the perfect time. She amazes me daily. She has helped me change the way I view things. I remember the China trip and the nights in the hotel. Awesome!

But today was a highlight. Not only was it her first Easter, it was her first time experiencing worship and I teared up almost the whole time. Thanks Matt S and the praise band,LM loved the music. She kicked and danced and every time I wanted to cry I looked at her and she had her silly grin on.

I still can't believe our wait is over, that we saw her face last November and just one month ago, I held her in my arms, the coolest moment of my life so far. It was surreal.

I have spent the day thinking about Easter and the fact that God allowed his son to suffer the most painful death so that I can have eternal life and a life of freedom. Because of His sacrifice, I experience so much joy in my life. Its not perfect, but its a feeling I can not describe. I don't deserve any if the gifts God has given me. I think about this daily. I am very grateful for these gifts.

As I remind myself of LM's first Easter, for some families, this is their first Easter without their children. Don't forget to pray for the Chapman family as they approach their first year without Maria Sue. Check out Marybeth's blog for her thoughts on today.

My lovely husband was admitted into the hospital last night for dehydration and anemia. Right now he is waiting some transfusions and has tests scheduled for tomorrow. So no we are home and one of my goals is to quit eating out so much. Really try. We do play trivia one night a week but we don't have to eat there. But that's besides the point.

A lot of people sent me emails on healthy food and baby foods. So I ask of you, what do you always have on hand in your fridge,freezer and pantry? What are your simply, easy, healthy meals that you routinely make?

My first post as a mom. Sweet. I sit here aat 7:15am on Monday morning watching Curious George with LynnMarie. What do your kids watch in the morning? What do you feed your 1 year old besides formula (had to change to American formula last night) These are just a few of the questions I have.

Many more are coming but I slept almost 7 hours last night and plan on taking my nap with her today. YIPPEEEE!!!!!!

Tomorrow night is our last night before China..Can you believe this? parenthood is impending.

So what am I feeling? happiness, joy,fear of the unknown, nervous.

So surreal. Some of you have been reading my blog since we started the process and some of you have just started reading. This adoption thing is so crazy....

In one week, 2 worlds will collide. We have had 7 years of marriage and its just been about us. She has been in a home in another country with different smells, tastes, sounds. In one week our stories will become one and a new great adventure will begin.

I can't believe I have not posted about these past couple of weeks. I went to my first consignment sale this week and that was fun. Not only did I get to spend time with my friend, but LynnMarie got some cool stuff including a high chair and lamp for her room!

We have had friends help with packing, paperwork and helping to move furniture! Friends rock!

To some the adoption process may be coming to an end but to me it seems like its moving to a next level. I can not believe we are going to hold her and love her and pray over her soon. Crazy stuff!!!

I tell you this process has been amazing. God has used this wait to show Himself to me and to others and its been soo cool to see the things he has done. He brought new friendships and shown me how to love and to be loved. It really doesn't get much better.

Suffering

Its not what you think. Im okay. But last night at small group we got into a discussion and as I think back as to how I responded, I really dont know where it came from.

We are working on a Andy Stanley series which is so relevant today and the past few weeks we have been talking finances. I'm not one for taking notes, but I am glad I did.

One of our couples talked about fear. She fears suffering. She watches people who live the faithful life and still lose their jobs, homes and experience bad things..

Here is what I told her. What I am hopeful for is that the suffering is not the end. God uses suffering for good. The suffering just plain "sucks" (excuse my language) but God does use all things for good. Sometimes other people see the good before we do, but we do have the promise that God has our best intentions for us.

I know that we hear that things will get worse before they get better. I hope that my happiness is not circumstantial but that I maintain a sense of joy

on another note, last week I was watching my favorite movie and one of the lines has been running through me head. Mandy Moores character says " Without suffering, there would be no compassion"

So I have 8 more shifts at until China or possible just 6 if I think I need the extra days to get ready that week. Scary isn't it?

We have lots to do but we will get it done.

Remember whey I went to see Beth Moore and Kay Arthur last summer? Something that Kay said has stuck in my head. Now, you have to understand that I love Christian fiction walls and I love love Contemporary Christian music. She warned us not to make that our quiet time with God. She said if I had time to read all the fiction and nonfiction Christian books, then I have time to spend in God's word so this week I have tried that. I am just about finished the Old Testament in my women's Bible Study but I have tried to do more that that.

I looked in the back of my Bible for things relating to peace and mind since that's what i have been struggling with and I quickly went to 1 Peter 4, particularly verses 1-7. I am not going to post the words but I hope you will go and read it!!!

What about you? Is there any scripture that's been on your heart lately?

Living for God

Suffering for Being a Christian

We are going to China in less than a month. My mind is going crazy. God has been busy as he has opened door after door since November..

10 more shifts until China. How much does that rock???

Got to the gym early, it was quiet and I only turned some of the lights on. My goal was 4 miles on the treadmill but dang my legs starting hurting so I stopped and did the elliptical. Hopefully 4 miles again on Monday!!!

Ok, what are you guys reading?? Anything good?? More book reviews coming up by the way!!

missing God

I have to be honest. I have been fighting Satan for a while. I do think he is trying to rob me from my joy and steal my peace. I have just been worrying lately ALL of the time. I have been worrying about things I can not control and its consuming my thoughts.

The adoption-not worried at all. Beyond thrilled to get LynnMarie in my arms.

I guess I feel inadequate. I am not giving 100% again and I am not glorifying God in all I do, and yes that is my goal. I have not been good at eating, I could be exercising more, I could focus on cleaning on home and getting more organized. These are the things I need and want to do but instead I do whats comfortable. I want to be a better friend. I have been blessed by many friends who have just been so generous lately.

I miss my quiet time with God. I have not been having it and I really miss it. I miss moments where He just speaks to me. I am just not quiet anymore. I miss that intimate relationship that He desires so much. I miss spending time in His word because I always learn when I am studying.

I fear. I fear a lot of things and that takes away peace. I fear the world we live in. I fear some of the decisions the President has already made. I fear sharing my opinion. I fear what others can do to our country. I fear those of us who are believers not taking a stand for what we believe in. I fear not being satisfied with what I have. I fear not having these feelings. I fear not giving. I fear making decisions based on what is comfortable and not what God desires of me, even when it is heavy on my mind.

Nope. I am not depressed. Just sorting out some feelings and emotions.

Anyone else feel like this?Because apparently admitting you have a problem is the first step to recovery.

We had a great small group last night as we are working on an Andy Stanley video series. One of the questions that came up was tithing and giving?

What are your thoughts?? Do you give the 10% that is mentioned in the Bible? Do you give more so that you are able to be stretched by God. Do you give as a form of worship or because its a requirement?

I want to give more. Not just money to the church, to others in need, whether its time or money to others. Do you think God is concerned more about the actual amount of money or what your heart is doing?

It was a great conversation and I heard several points of views.. I just want to give. There will always be people in need who have less than me. As much as I love to be comfortable with "things", I'm ready to be different.

Hello my name is Amy and I come here to confess. You see i have a problem. I like to read blogs. Ok, please do not judge me on the following information. I use bloglines to keep me up to date with my blogs. My bloglines currently has 903 blogs on there. I keep adding blogs so that I won't miss anything. That's my personality. Now, its time to clean up the bloglines. I read all types of blogs, adoption ones, ones on weight loss, people who work in the Christian music industry and most are just regular personal blogs. I will be deleting a large amount of blogs..

So, if you read my blog, comment a lot and have not received a comment from me, let me know. I do want to return the favor. My goal is to cut the amount of blogs by half tonight and by the rest of the weekend, another half..

Emotions

I'm about to post on the adoption blog but thought I would update here.

Nothing new. I'm still me. Still trying to get up to 5 miles on the treadmill before China.

I think God's working in my head and heart right now because I have the craziest thoughts going on.

Emotionally I am experiencing fear,joy,hope, excitement,anticipation and other things.

perhaps its my age, but I am questioning a lot of things. Maybe I am not questioning, just sorting out things. So if you could, please pray for a sense of peace to take over me.

Those of you who have read this blog for a while or know me, I hope know that I am a Christian, a God follower. I have known God my life and have trusted him for as long I have know. I know that his plans are much bigger than mine will ever be and I prefer his plans over mine, no matter how long it takes.

Recently, I have been wondering if I have got it all wrong. Not the God thing, I fully believe He is the creator of the Universe and knows me inside out. I do know that judgement will come when I experience earthly death. I know that God has promised some great things and I know that I am not worthy of it. But I am not sure I am living the way I need to be. Maybe I am praying the wrong way, I don't know. I hope this is just a phase. I truly hope to become the woman God created me to be. I am not giving as much as I do. I have not made the best decisions regarding money. Here is my problem. Those are commandments in the Bible. Its a simple one, not hard to understand. God also asks us to help orphans, widows, the poor and the needy. I am not doing that. I am frustrated, do you ever get that way??

Impending parenthood-totally rocking my world in ways I could not imagine. I can not believe we are weeks away from meeting our daughter

The world has been scaring me lately. Not in a bad way but as a reminder not to put my hope in one man or others around the world. The only One who can give me the peace I need is my Heavenly Father and I need to constantly remind myself. I am surprise and disappointed in the behavior and decisions of Washington. Not necessarily the President, but just things I am reading and listening. Life is so precious and we really need to protect those who can not protect themselves.

Orphans- I do not like that word. When I hear how other children are living around the world, I remind myself of how blessed we are are and how we need to be giving more, even now, when money is tight. There are little children who don't have clothes, don't have clean water and sometimes only get one meal a day, if thatThey have never seen a toy. Some moms can't even breastfeed because they themselves do not have the nutrients. I don't know why this is on my heart tonight. We have it soooo good here. We forget what we have. I hope we have the opportunity to serve in some way while in China. As I read on a friends blog, we will soon have little eyes watching us and I really want her tosee us giving. I want that to be a natural part of our lives..

So, I am home, playing online and watching My Best Friends Wedding..

I did do 3 miles on the treadmill and yes, my legs are still wobbly. Church was awesome yesterday and the sermon will probably stick with me for a while. They will have it up online so head over to www.northmetro.org to listen later on.

We watched the Superbowl with some friends from our Community Group and even though I really don't get football, that last quarter was really good. The commercials were ok, there were some that were not very family friendly and one really offended me. I think it was the flower commercial..Whatever.!! I also spent a lot of time with a friend talking about weight watchers, and she is such a great motivator.

Still getting ready for China. Saturday Michael and I cleaned up the master room and hopefully the nursery will get painted and new carpet this week!!! So life is busy but fun and I am learning how to finally organize things! haha!!!!

-So with 5-8 weeks until the Christopher family grows by one, changes are being made. I did 2.45 miles today on the treadmill and hope to hit the 3 mile mark on Monday, working towards my 5 mile goal. Michael has been working out as well and seems to enjoy it!!!!

-trivia last night, we won with a perfect score which scored us a free dinner next week!!!

-Weight Watchers- the scale did not like me yesterday but at least I had lunch with my friend Donna who got me out of denial

-I have a feeling the next 2 months are going to go by fast

-Work is good but busy. Ladies attempted to throw me a surprise shower but included me in the email invite. Its a good thing since I have plans that day. HAHA!! and I don't like surprises like that, totally makes me feel comfortable but how generous of them!

-Glad to be back at the Amazing Collection Bible Study. I love those girls and we studied Habakkukk yesterday and review Old Testament kings.

-I love Autumn the basset hound but she needs to quit a few behaviours before China

-loving the ITUNES songs some of your recommended, especially the Sanctus Real song. Its totally me right now!!!

Lots on my mind

Preparing for parenthood, organizing the house, getting healthier, working on finances, planning a trip to China is a bit OVERWHELMING but it will be okay.

First goal, walk 5 miles quickly on treadmill. Able to do 2 with no problem, will do 3 by Monday.

We got a crib. This is good.

Looking forward to my ladies Bible Study tomorrow. haven't seen them since Christmas and will miss them while we are gone.

WW tomorrow!!! Looking forward to it (not the weigh in, but the meeting and lunch with a friend)

Serving

Today at church we talked about serving. They shared stories of members of teams that served on short term mission trips during the past year.
I want to serve. I want to serve here in America. I really hope I am able to serve in China. Im getting more and more excited about that trip everyday. Its going to be amazing. I want God to give me a servant's heart.

I get so sick of being selfish and being in my comfort zone, yet I stay where I am. It gets frustrating.
