This is the end
of the contest that is. Its been fun. In case you are new here, I have had had a simple contest going on the past few weeks. All you had to do is post and tell me what you are thankful for. That's it. The 2 people with the highest points get a stack of free Christian Fiction books from me. I am also going to give random books to other participants, so anyone can win. There were also extra points given to those who posted on the blog of the day or hubby's blog..(REMINDER: VALTOOL'S BOX IS UP TODAY)
So, my tooth feels better today thanks to Mr.Lortab and the kitchen is clean. If I can get the laundry done, I get more blogging time today. I have only worked 1 day this week and I am looking forward to going back next week...Need to build up my PTO time ya know!

So Lucy went to doggy day care and I went to run errands. I had my tooth checked out again because the Lortab did not help last night although the swelling went down..All is well and I will have to have it finished next week.
Next I went to the drs office to pick up a letter. We had our doctor write a letter saying Michaels diabetes is better just in case the Chinese people have questions.
I then went window shopping and found a new skirt and top for church. This was needed. I got home and found out Michael was going to be home early so Michael and I got to pick up Lucy together, it was stinkin cute.
I am watching the news and finally there was something to smile about, but it made me cry. The part I watched was a little 6 year old boy in first grade. He was doing his class work and looked up. His dad, who was serving overseas, came home and he didn't know! The look on this little boys face was just awesome.I would have loved to have been there..It was quite emotional and I am glad the news covered it instead of putting Brittany's toothache on tv!!!
Not much else going on..Lucy and Michael and resting behind me and I have some free blogging time..Michael has been working very hard this week and I am proud of him. I have been wigging out lately..I don't know why..Overstimulated. The tooth ache has really out a dent in my routine and I do not like my routine interrupted..Guess I need to work on that before we head to China!

Yesterday
Yesterday was awesome. After I got home, I slept from 830-10am. Then I got ready and headed up 575 to invite meet some new friends. I was invited to lunch with some ladies involved in Chinese adoption. Some already had their babies and some were sooo close to a referral. I had no idea who would be there, but most of them had blogs I have been reading for months now!
After lunch, I came home and rested for another few hours. I got up and picked up Lucy the basset hound from doggie day care and dropped her off. Then I proceeded to head to Carrabas to have lunch with Laura, another future mommy who is very close to us in the adoption process. It was wonderful to have some girl time and to get to know each other. She is such an encouragement!!! Girl time was over when Michael joined us and we had fun!!! Michael then told me he had Wednesday (today) off and we headed home to watch American Idol.
On that note, my favorites last night were not my usual favorites... I loved Phil and Gina! Who should go? I don't know but my guess for leaving tonight would be:
Chris (the curly headed one)- it was not his best performance. I love him though
Sanjaya- he will always be on my list
Hayley
We may be surprised and one the popular girls may go..We will see!!!!

My thoughts
Nope this is not another question or blog of the day or another meme or list!
As you may have read over at Valtool's Box, one of Peter's (michaels BIL) cats passed away last night. Its very sad because he had been suffering and he will be missed.
On another note, Michael is gone to work for a few hours today and I have some time at home by myself. I am currently watching 90210 reruns and having some quite time with Lucy while I blog, my new favorite past time.
Work was busy this weekend, but not too bad. I took care of a patient with a newly diagnosed brain tumor a few weeks ago and she is back in the hospital to start her chemotherapy. The type of tumor she has has a great prognosis and I love the family. Friday night, I have never seen her this patient happier or with a better attitude. We laughed and shared some stories and I am glad I went to the oncology floor to visit her Friday night.
Last night, one of the nurses from the floor called to tell me the chemotherapy hit her..She was SICK SICK SICK!!! I hope this passes and she continues with her wonderful attitude. They are a Christian homeschooling family and I adore them. I pray that my children can be half as joyful as this family is. Isnt JOYFUL a wonderful word? Its funny? When you get to know these families, you wonder how these families cope. They go from a child who is active in school, playing with their friends, to having chemo weekly, getting sick and weekly doctors visits..What a life changing event? This has really been on my mind. We need to also pray for the siblings who are also affected by cancer...I must say again CANCER SUCKS!! Sorry if I offended anyone!
Did anyone catch Peyton Manning on SNL last night? heehee I rarely watch that show but had some free time at work..He didnt mess up too bad.

Wordless Wednesday
This is Sammy and Delilah. Delilah looks like she is in jail while Sammy obviously got caught. We got these cats a few months before we were married so I would not be lonely..They rock!
Blog of the day and stuff
Well yesterday Michael and I had lunch and went to a movie. Had a hard time picking one out, but chose to see Ghost Rider with Nicholas Cage. I do not like action movies but I have seen superhero movies such as Spider Man and Superman and I like Mr Cage. Actually I was surprised that I liked it and that it kept my attention. It had to do with good and evil. Its not one I personally need to own but I did enjoy it.
After that, we came home and made a pork chop/mashed potato/ stuffing dinner and worked on Gone with the Wind for a while. Actually we watched How I Met Your mother first. We went to bed and I had a hard going to sleep.
Michael called this morning to say Lucy may be under the weather as she was so calm when he took her out. I got up later expecting to see a dead dog..Before I could worry, Lucy let her presence be known. She helped me clean up the house although she is disappointed I could not find my keys and told Lucy she was going bye bye.. I left a set of keys in Michael's car so we are here at home, waiting for him to come back..Shes going bye bye tomorrow
okay, on with the blog of the day..Its Anne over at Each Day is a Gift She had a wonderful church experience and has such a positive blog! Make sure you go and say hello!

Pray for Aubreys family
Little Aubrey is a patient of mine who has a brain tumor. I woke up this morning to learn she earned her angel wings. No more suffering for Aubrey who has lived with this tumor for almost 8 years old. This another precious family to me. When she was my patient, I would stay and talk to the family for what seemed hours. Pray for them as they grieve and mom takes care of herself as she is expecting baby number 2

Ten things I hate doing
1) Working overtime and knowing the extra money is going to bills
2)working night shift
3)cleaning out 2 litter boxes at one time..Ones not bad, but 2 really stinks (literally)
4) having to clean the house really good (I'm not that good at it at all)
5)knowing it will be at least a year before we meet our daughter
6)living far away from family and not seeing them more which includes the 3 nephews and 1 niece
7)have to make choices.. I am really not good at it!
8) meeting good friends and moving away (both I and the friends and I am not talking specifically about Jeff and val, although that stinks as well)
9) I hate being in debt
10) not seeing Michael more often

This weekend
With Michael being sick, we had a nice time together since he could not work due to the strep throat thing! Saturday we did a run to Sams, followed by a fundraiser Spaghetti dinner. After staying up and watching sometime I do not remember we went to bed. Sunday, we woke up to continue on our church hunt. I decided to go to St.Andrews United Methodist Church and as we pulled up at 10:55, we realized we were late..But, I remember another church down the road started at 11:15. So, we returned to visit Heritage Presbyterian to church which we visited a few weeks ago. It all worked out well, as once again we enjoyed the service. They showed a film about their youth camp which had some technical difficulties but we got the message. This church is small but has a lot going on. Check the website out!
After church, I ran to Walmart to get some fabric for my quilt swap. Details on that later!
Dinner was steak and taters, done by my Michael. We watched Talladega Nights in the afternoon followed by the first half of Gone with the Wind! I am really enjoying it. I have never seen it but assumed Miss Scarlet was a sweet Southern chick. I was wrong..
I will let know you know what I think at the end.

Today and the blog of the day
Michael and I just got back from a fundraiser for a couple adopting from Taiwan. We don't really know them but just felt like supporting them. I hope to get to know them in the future. They also had a silent auction in which we got some really cool things. Michael got a couple of golf passes somewhere and I got a purse. We got a huge backyard tent for shade and got one of our nieces or nephews a sleeping bag..We had a nice time and spent some time talking to the host and hostess of our First Friday adoption group, the Chapman's..I really enjoyed myself!

Can anyone guess what this is? Well, its the most consumed drink in our home. Chik Fil A unsweet tea. I guess I should have included some Sweet n Low with it, but I didn't.

Update on me. Poor Michael was diagnosed with strep so he is at home. He does need his rest so I hope he feels better soon.
Yesterday, I had a lunch date with my friend Rebekah and her 3 kids. She has a 4yo, 2 yo and and 8mo old. For easiness and convenience we had lunch at Burger King and then walked over to Kangaroo Bobs for playtime. If you ever want to take your kids for some physical activity and want time to talk to your friend, this is the place to go. Its a building with a ton of inflatable toys. the kids take their shoes off and off they go. They have adults who are paid to supervise and lead the kids in games every hour. The kids get tickets when they participate and then get prizes when they leave.
rebekah and I got some great friendship time for the time since Michaela was born and it was so nice. I then headed to Publix to get dinner fixings which ended up being a childhood favorite, fish sticks, peas and mac and cheese.. We watched some tv and talked (Michael and I) and went to bed. Michael of course had to complete his Friday Flasback. Don't forget to get an extra point by going to visit him. I knew all the videos!
and..there has been an update on the adoption blog.Things are moving ahead woohoo

Lucy Update
My Michael stopped and took some pictures of Lucy today while she is in Puppy Playtime during her Doggie Daycare at Man's Best Friend. She LOVES to go play with the other dogs and today they had 20 in daycare.

Marriage
Being married is fun. I think back to before I met Michael, and I was different. My lifestyle was different. Perhaps, its been hanging out with Jeff and Val, but its hit me that being married is a blessing. It's a gift and you have to take care of this gift. Its more than just planning vacations and meals. Michael is truly my everything. We even finish each others sentences. Some people say that its interrupting, but whatever.
This all came up because Michael has been sick. puny. icky. hes been home from work. I love days off with him. I love watching movies and talking. Sometimes it encourages me to stay home from work. But, there is a downside. I work night shift. If I am off the night before, I have a routine. Its been a routine since we moved here. Wake up. play with dog. clean kitchen/laundry/go to gym/ lunch/ dog/ nap/ go to work. that's the way I do it. The downside to Michael being sick is that it messes up my routine and I don't know why. The fact that he is here should not make me change my routine but it doesn't. Perhaps its because I am very influenceable (not sure if thats a word but hopefully you understand). Also, if you mess with my routine, I get in a bad routine no matter where I am. That I can't help. So, I am sorry, my Michael, I hope you feel better.
Back to marriage, Michael is my counterpart and when we get back from China with our daughter, he will be even more so. Michael has taken over a lot of responsibilities that's been nice..An example is the air filters. He changes them. I expect him to do that, only because when I was growing up, my dad that. But, I need to thank him for those little things. I'm being quite random today, my apologies.
I love Michael even more than when we took our vow on October 6th, 2001. We have our arguments and disagreements and even tick each other sometimes. We talked the other day about what gets on each others nerves. For example, Michael gets annoyed with the way I tear open the Sweet and Low sugar packets. You may laugh but I bet my dad would saw the same thing. The way I tear it, it gets sugar all over the place. One day I will share what Michael does.
Marriage.. its truly been a great adventure.. Moving, changing jobs, vacations, death of grandparents, birth of nieces and nephews, adoption, plans for the future, house repairs. This is just a small list of what we have done together..
Working night shift is hard but its worked out well for us. We each get our own time to ourselves.

Good Morning
Monday is here! Woohoo. Had a nice Sunday off from work, after a weekend of drama.
Sunday night had more drama at work then I care to ever see and after working my 11 hours (thanks to daylight savings time) I headed home. I was too tired and Michael is still getting over his illness so we skipped church. I'm off all weekend next week so we will visit then. I took an almost 2 hour nap and got ready to join Valfrey for our final meal with them! Wah!
So Michael and I joined them at Maggianos for long lunch which was both tasty and delicious and full of little babies everywhere. Michael did well in the conversation which has plenty of talk of Union memories and old friends and talk about new online/blogger friends.
They are heading back to Tn and although its sad, I am thrilled for them. After only 4 months in Atlanta, they get to go home to Tn! Let me just say that you can tell God had his hand in this months ago as Jeff has been waiting to go home for almost a decade and marrying the lovely Val certainly helped with this..Yeah God!
We do plan on meeting them in Tn for more fun and to see old friends..We will attempt to stay positive.. Good luck Val and Jeff!!!
Headed home to beautiful weather outside. I was too tired to enjoy the weather so i chilled in the recliner and we surfed the TV!
Dinner was ordered and we sat down to watch Extreme Makeover which was done here in Atlanta, not too far away from here. If you did not watch this, I am sorry. One of the best, most sincere shows I have watched..Gotta love those running tears for a whole 60 minutes!
We ended the day with the end of The Wedding Singer, which always makes me laugh.
On the agenda this week:
1) hoping to finally complete the adoption paperchase. for info on that click here
2) work Mon,Tues, and Friday
3) trivia at Winstons on Wednesday
4) try to let Lucy only eat edible objects and not our personal property. She did wolf down left over steak in less than 5 minutes last night. I was able to get some 10pm exercise when I thought Lucy got Michael's cell phone. After catching her, I found she had a spoon and a left over pudding cup! May you never see our backyard as I have promised Michael I would clean it up for over a month now..

the life in the pediatric world
So, I have a patient. She needs one antibiotic before she can go home. I start her antibiotic. Her IV hurts. We take it out. I call the dr. My 12 year old patient gets the choice to have a new IV or get a shot. She chooses the shot. An hour later, the shot is ready and I ask her if she wants it in her arm or her "tushy". We decide the arm would be too sore. In comes her 6yo brother who asks 'Whats a tushy"? I want to know what a tushy is. LET ME SEE THE TUSHY"!!!" At this point, I am laughing so hard with the family the tears are rolling. Meanwhile, the little boy wants to know why tushy is funny!.. We escort him out of the room and proceed with the shot. She handles it well, but realizes its going to be a sore night.
We go over discharge orders and I tell her to call the doctor if she has questions, fever, etc. My patients adds," DO I call if my TUSHY falls off"? The mom says if that happens, not only will they call the doctor, she will get on TV? The 6 year old brother now adds, "How does a tushy fall off? Can your break it? WHAT IS A TUSHY"? I allowed the family to get ready and escorted them to the door.
The dad tells me the little brother figured it out. The little brother replies " I do know what it is but I'm not saying it. I might get it kicked"
Perhaps you had to be there. It was priceless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, my Michael is sick, as you can read at Valtool's box! Make sure you stop by and tell him to hurry up and feel better.We are hoping he feels better after a nap later, so that we can play some trivia tonight at Winstons, always a good time. Im tired and not motivated at all to clean the house.
Life is crazy. Work is crazy. I have a patient who has a brain tumor. I know what type of tumor it is, what the treatment will be, what the predictions will be. The doctors are to talk to them today. I spent hours laughing with the mom, taking care of the patient and they had no idea whats going on with their sweet little boy. My breaks for them and the other newly diagnosed brain tumors...Ugh.. Cancer sucks. It doesn't affect just the patient but the family and friends as well.
Enough of that! Whats going on bloggers.. I want happy stories..

Michael and I have both been in fabulous moods lately and its been fun to spend time together.
Here is a question. Whats the best place for a weekend get away? Always looking for things to do...
Review of 2007 goals
1) I have lost 12-14 pounds..Kind of stuk
2) Still not organized but have found the motivation
3) still working on the Walt Disney biography. Its great but its 700 pages long.
That's it for now!!!!

Guilt
It does not take long for me to feel guilty, about anything. If I call in to work, I am mentally miserable. This was especially true Sunday. Sunday morning we got up and decided on a church to visit. I am desperate to find a home church before we get back from China and I want to be involved. It started at 11am. We walked in at 11:02 and missed the announcements but nothing else really. It was packed and we quickly found a seat. When its the crowded and we are not that early, I am mentally gone (see 2 posts below). My heart is racing and paranoia sets in. Plus another thing was it was Communion Sunday. Guys and gals, my heart was not in it. Satan won. I sooo wanted to enjoy the service and meet new people, but it did not happen..
Will we ever find a church we both love?

and just to clarify my post below, I am thrilled for Valfrey. Who is Valfrey? Well, its Jeff and Val. DUring their courtship, a family member gave them the name since there was Benifer and Brangelina... I think its cute. They have been married 4 months and their marital journey continues. I am sad that we didnt get much time to hang out with them but it will be awesome to hear what God is doing in their family. Rock on Jeff and Val!

Issues
In case you have not noticed, I have issues..Many Many issues. 100% of my friends and family have known this for a while and thank God they love me unconditionally.
Let's see if I can name a few
1) I have a certain way I do laundry. Its just started since I have been married, but its my way. My ironing board is my dryer
2)I have to leave an hour early for work. Do not get in my way when I am ready to leave. If I am running late to work, I mentally freak out for at least an hour.
3)I am paranoid, more than the normal person. I know I have a problem. If I wasn't as paranoid, my life would be a lot less stressful.
4) I am not OCD. In fact, I am so unorganized, my father can not believe it. Its the only family gene I did not inherit.. I am not organized but I have certain things that must be done a certain way or dont even bother.
5)When making dates with friends, I prefer them to call me and ask because I am afraid if I try to set a gathering up, I will be rejected..I told you I had odd issues.
6)I am 32 and am still paranoid people wont like me. I am odd, I am loud but I am fun. I shouldn't care if people don't like me, but I do. I still try to impress strangers, which is sooo stupid.
7) I love to talk about myself, but I don't like people to ask questions about me. I'm not sure why, I have to be in the right mood to talk to people about myself..I love to hear about others though. I told you I was odd.
I am sure that my Michael can come up with a few more but since I said I wanted to get more personal on my blog, here ya go.
Let's see if I can name a few
1) I have a certain way I do laundry. Its just started since I have been married, but its my way. My ironing board is my dryer
2)I have to leave an hour early for work. Do not get in my way when I am ready to leave. If I am running late to work, I mentally freak out for at least an hour.
3)I am paranoid, more than the normal person. I know I have a problem. If I wasn't as paranoid, my life would be a lot less stressful.
4) I am not OCD. In fact, I am so unorganized, my father can not believe it. Its the only family gene I did not inherit.. I am not organized but I have certain things that must be done a certain way or dont even bother.
5)When making dates with friends, I prefer them to call me and ask because I am afraid if I try to set a gathering up, I will be rejected..I told you I had odd issues.
