Amy . . .

What would you like to know? I am fun, but crazy. I have a most perfect husband, and 2 cats named Samson and Delilah. We are presently working on adopting a little girl from China and have a separate blog for that. I am a Christian and am working on a better relationship with him. I live in the Atlanta area and love sharing stories with people. I am also a pediatric nurse and I love it! I love to talk and meet new people and I love Disney Cruising

Domesticated- this is what I am not. I would like to be but I have no idea where to start. This is not a poor me paragraph just statements or facts. i can not organize or clean anything 100%. This is not to say I do not want to, I am just not good at it. I can cook easy recipes but as to bake anything without easy instructions, I don't even try. I have never used my ironing board. I can see the home I want to have, I just don't know where to get started? Any suggestions. I am thinking about getting back into the Fly Lady thing, if she will have me back. I need help. I need to get organized before going to China. Feel free to ask your friends to help me. Ugh!!!!!!

Amy, have you heard of the Home Ec 101 blog (http://www.home-ec101.com/)? It's a really great resource...I've picked up quite a few good homemaking tips from it.

I hesitate to write this because I don't want to sound preachy or like I am a saint, but it just came to me. Amy, I don't know if it is the name or what, but I struggle too all the time. What I just thought of though was I have to set my mind on these things and do it because I am to glorify God in all I say and do. And I look around my home and see all the wonderful things He has allowed me to enjoy, but my house is cluttered and I have way too much stuff. I can't speak for Him, but I doubt He is pleased with what I have done with what's been given to me. Please don't take this the wrong way because what I have written is really more for me.

I do understand where you're coming from because we can envision what we want but it is too overwhelming when we start. Or we make a dent in something and it looks great, but it lasts about a day, if that. Are you the same way?

Wanting the best is the first step. Praying to God and seeking His guidance is another. I need to check out SG tip for myself. I will pray that we can both set our minds on what's needed and accomplish the task. Little by little, but it can be done!

I have a large family and a not-s-large house so clutter here just happens! And when I am done cleaning one room to go to the next the last one is already wrecked again.
I have found that keeping "To Do" lists helps me stay organized and focusing on one thing at a time not to mention prioritizing. This site - http://largefamilylogistics.net has some great tips on organizing your schedule and home.
As far as cooking and baking goes - give anything a try once. You can see what kinds of cuisine you like and go from there. Slow cooker meals are always great for when you are busy - especially for when you bring that precious one home!
You can do it! Just remember baby steps!

I'm so jealous of your new church! :) It sounds like a good fit for you and I'm excited for you. It's so hard to find "the" church you're supposed to be in sometimes, and it makes me happy to see someone who has done that.

My clutter is absolutely out of control. I think I've figured out that it stresses me out a lot more than I realize sometimes. I feel overwhelmed by it and lists of things I need to do are always running around in the back of my mind. I think it's made me a lot less focused (I *just* figured that out), so I'm going to start making a concerted effort to work on it.

clutter is our name! It just piles up until we can't stand it anymore. But it is mostly kid stuff - I just need time to get in there and toss while the kids aren't home to pull it right back out of the trash or give away box!

I'm just going to take advantage of your post and pick up a few pointers of your commenters. Tell me who isn't guilty of having clutter at home, specially when little ones are involved.

I'm not very good at being domesticated either LOL I hate to iron and I usually ask Joe to iron a few shirts for me when he irons his uniform :)

That does sound like a wonderful church with a lot of programs going on!

It sounds like they have a wonderful Women's Ministry! I am envious! :o)

As far as the domestication thing, I can't help you on that one! I am totally undomesticated myself. :o)

Ah, I LOVE LOVE LOVE organizing! My problem is I get too many ideas and I can never carry them all the way through. But the first step is to make sure everything has a place. Once that's taken care of, it's just a matter of taking the few seconds here and few seconds there to put things in their place.
