Movies and a question for you

When I think of classic movies, I think about Gone with the Wind, Its a Wonderful Life all the way up to Grease. I started thinking about recent movies.. What will be considered a classic? Will it be Titanic? I would love to hear your thoughts..So tell me, what movies from 1990 and up do you think will be considered classics? Think hard........

Monday

Good morning friends. Its Monday morning and the World Series is over. Besides the Red Sox, I had no idea who was playing until last Wednesday while playing trivia.

This week involves working my usual 3 nights, a meeting, and trick or treating. I so enjoy passing out candy and I am glad that Michael is dressing up this year..WooHoo.
We had our last Discovery Class yesterday (I cant attend next Sunday because I am working both Sat and Sun nights) and then another awesome service with wonderful music. As hesitant as I was to join a huge church, this has been a blessing. I am active in the women's ministry, Michael and I are enjoying our small group and Michael is getting plugged in by volunteering at the new bookstore in the church.

How was your weekend? here is another question. Are you afraid to try a new shampoo? I am. I need to get over that. My shampoo is too expensive and then you have to buy conditioner..

Head over the adoption blog and join us in our Monday prayer time please.

I feel good

I really do. I don't know why. Perhaps its because I love life, God and my husband. Perhaps its because I am a dreamer and have such hope for the future. Perhaps its because I went to the gym twice last week. I love the fall. I really love my husband. He has been a fabulous husband over the past few weeks and I don't think he even knows it. I have been waiting to tell him how much he rocks but I haven't. He has been so funny with Lucy the basset hound and I often find them chilling together in the living room. Michael has been good at making sure we are not late to events and this means the world to me. His attitude has been fabulous and he has been funny .Michael is just awesome. We have enjoyed making new friends at church and in our small group. We attended tonight and had soup, salad and grilled cheese sandwiches. We have been having great conversations and although are time is limited because of his job and my working nightshift,we have managed to watch a few movies and shows together. I have just really had fun with him lately.

WE have a lot to learn about each other and parenting and during this wait for our daughter in CHina, we have plenty of time to learn. Read about that journey here. Michael is going to be such a fun dad. I look forward to this wait although I wish it was shorter.
I am blessed.

Its your turn..Brag about your spouse or significant other. Come on, you know you want to. Its fun.

Wordless Wednesday

Michael and I on our birthday (yes we have the same birthday) at Universal with our new friend!!!

BTW, our bdays are in January not today..Sorry for the confusion

friends

Michael and I had all of Monday off and this morning as well. I go back to work tonight after my nap. Yesterday I went to the gym (yeah me) and we ended the day going to trivia with members of our small group. It was fun and we almost won! After that, we drove home (first we had to "ghost" someone as we have now been "ghosted" 3 times) and had some ice cream (I had pumpkin ice cream) and we watched the Blair Witch Project and slept in... Too fun.
Today is the day we celebrate waiting 6 months for LynnMarie (check out http://www.thechristopherfamily.blogspot.com/ for more details) and to celebrate we had Chinese food.

Its almost nap time for me but I have been thinking about friendship lately. Friends are so important. I was thinking how you really have to take care of your friendships. I love my friends. I love meeting new friends. I have to be careful when we meet new friends. Sometimes I can be overwhelming and can hog the conversation. I hate it when others do that. I love it when my friends ask questions about whats going on in my life and ask if they can pray for me. How awesome is that? Michael and I have gotten to meet a lot of new friends in the last couple of months. Because of our adoption, we were lead to our new church. Because of church, we now have a small group, a sort of Sunday School class and I am involved in the Women's Ministry. i love it.

But I want my friends to know I care about them as well. I love having a friend that I trust so much that I can share my thoughts, dreams and crazy thoughts with. My friends are special because I am a bit crazy. Its true. I love a friend that I can really be myself with. friends I feel comfortable with. I want to be able to do nice things for my friends. I want to make their lives easier. Sometimes I am afraid to jump in and help, I prefer friends to ask me to help and thats not fair. I want to find time to spend with my friends. I feel like I have not been doing that and if you are one of those friends, I am so sorry. Please know that I love all of yall and pray for you daily. I want to be a better friend and I want to appreciate my friendships more.

So, are you the best friend that you can be? How can you be a better friend today?

Relaxation

Not much going on here at the Christopher. Busy weekend at work and Michael and I both have the day off tomorrow. We have our small group this coming Friday. I am hoping to get off from work 7-11 to go. We went to church today starting out with our Discovery 2 class and talked about the importance of group and community. We got to another new couple who is really nice and lives near us. After our class we have about an hour before the service starts so we chill in the church's coffeehouse and chill for a bit. We met another new friend who is mom of twins who were born at 26 weeks. We talked about how in control of her life she was and how having the babies early and having twins just changed her whole lifestyle. What a neat lady! I hope we get to meet her husband and kids soon. She is very nice!

Last week we talked about what we do to relax and I really didn't have an answer. I blog but I need something else. Michael has a variety of things and I don't . Boohoo. What do you guys do to relax when life is just too busy?

Its definitely fall here in Atlanta. the leaves are not as full of color more than likely because of the drough but they are still beautiful and the weather is starting to change..I love it!

Photo Hunt- practical

Ok, this is stretching it. This is from Colonial Williamsburg. This is an example of one of their meals. I think they used lots of practical things back then.

Don't forget to answer the question below if you feel like it

Good morning friends, here are my thoughts and a question for you.

1) Michael and I finally finished season 3 of Greys Anatomy. We get to get caught up on the current season.
2)I am watching Private Practice this season and not sure what I think about it yet
3)I have no idea who I like on Survivor, I like James but he wont last because of his strength
4)Will be doing a Christmas Card exchange and will be accepting names and addresses Nov 1. You will choose how many people you want to exchange with. 1,5,10,20? Just letting you know!

So here is my question for you. This comes from the book I read for book club (the book listed on my blog below). When you see a homeless person, what do you do, what do you think? Have you ever gone out of your way to talk to someone who has nothing? Why or why not? Is it fear? Is it just uncomfortable? What do you think the homeless person is thinking when you do talk to him?

Friday Feast

Feast One Hundred & Sixty Five

Appetizer

If you were a dog, what breed would you be, and why?
Uhm, a basset hound. Because although I can be fat and lazy, I sometimes have spurts of energy that I have no idea where they come from

Soup
What does the color purple make you think of?
Barney the Dinosaur

Salad
Approximately how long does it take you to get ready each morning?
I get ready in the late afternoon. I take an hour but if if needed I can get ready in 30 minutes

Main Course
How many cousins do you have, and are you close to them?
Well, my mom has 8 brothers and sisters which went forth and multiplied and dad has a brother and sister. The last count was 58 but that's including second and third cousins and the count is always growing

Dessert
Take your initials (first, middle, last) and come up with something else those letters could stand for. (Example: SFO = Sweet Funny Otter)
A S P= another squishy peanut

clarification squicky is my term for any chubby baby, peanut is aka baby..

clarification #2 as Michael pointed out, I apparently forgot I was married so my new answer is
A.S.C
another squishy child or A.S.P.C would be Always spell potato correctly

Book Review Same Kind of Different as Me

last night I attended book club with sister Kelly who was visiting from Fl. That visit will be talked about in my next post. Anyway, we went to the church, had a wonderful dinner of chicken casserole, rice, veggies and yummy apple pie and then talked about the book in small groups. The book we talked about it the book on my "What am I reading: column on this blog.

I want you to read this book. In fact, my next contest will be for a copy of this book. its that good. I don't care if you share my beliefs. I don't care if you are male or female or if you only read one type of book. This book is that good and will make you think. Mark Henry, our lead teaching pastor recommended it and I know why.

I wasn't going to tell you what its about but it involves modern day slavery and reads like a fiction book but its all true. I'm not sure any fiction write could write this story. Steven R and Tymm H, if you read this post, I really think you would like this book. I know a lot of people prefer not to read fiction books. Find a friend to read it the same time. Find someone you can talk about it with. I liked this book so much I would think about doing a yahoo book review group sometime. My sister checked it out at her library so try there. let me know if you are thinking about reading it or if you want more information. I did not read the back of the book before I read it and I am glad. I promise, this book will make you think and make you experience some emotions. Perhaps you are going on a long trip soon, I totally recommend it.

If you live in the Atlanta area, I cordially invite you to the next book club in February. A lot of people who went last night do not attend the church. I hope you will join me!

Family Weekend

prayers needed for a very special family

I need all of you to pray for the Jason and Amber immediately. If you remember back a few months ago, their daughter Aubrey passed away from a brain tumor. This weekend Amber went into labor with daughter #2 and Ava was born stillborn. I am sooo sad for this special family. I can not imagine losing 2 children in one year. I pray that their faith will sustain them. Please ask your friends and family to pray for Jason and Amber right now.

fall

Its Fall. We felt it last night and early this morning. Yesterday I went to my Bible Study and realized I had a flat tire. After calling the service to come and help, I waited outside for almost 2 hours. It was okay. It was cool, sunny and a wonderful time. I had not been asleep for almost 20 hours but I really enjoyed this time just reading a wonderful book spending time outside.

I came home, slept a few hours and spent some time with Michael and Lucy talking to a neighbor after their walk. It just felt good. We played trivia last night and came home. This morning, I had to take the tire back to Kauffman Tires (who repair tires for free) and waited outside for about 90 minutes (they repaired it the day before but made a booboo, I appreciate their honesty) and continued reading this most wonderful book. I am reading it for book club at church and will do a full review after I complete it. My sister is coming up for work next week and will be attending book club with me, I am excited about that.

Anyway, its fall. I love this season. I love the apple festival that we will be going to this weekend. I love holding hubby's hand and snuggling.
I'm ready for pumpkins, leaves, apples, trick or treating, Thanksgiving, family and friends. I am working tonight and we have community group tomorrow (taco night) and then Apple Festival on Saturday and Discovery 2 class on Sunday..Busy times for the Christopher. I hope to get to the gym tomorrow but that will be a whole other post.

What are you doing today?

random thoughts

More Random Thoughts

1) Our 6th anniversary just passed, how cool is that?
2) Michael and I are working on Greys Anatomy Season 3. The last thing we watched last night was Meredith falling into the water. We also watched part of Field of Dreams
3) We were "ghosted" Michael left for work and found a bucket of candy and a ghost on the porch. We are to now "ghost" other people on our street. You put a paper ghost on your door to let other people know not to "ghost" other people. Lucy and I went for a walk today and noticed over 10 homes who have participated so far. I think its kind of cool.
4)See post below for the link to vote on Michael's costume. He also did a post on what we are studying at church
5)Our church is huge but its really starting to feel like a home church home. We are involved in a small group and doing a Discovery Class and our small group seems to get along. I hope they continue to love us unconditionally because we sure have our faults. My women's Bible Study is also great even though I fell asleep through it last week. Leviticus was not my favorite book.Michael and I have lots of homework this week. This church really rocks..Check it out at www.northmetro.org
6)Its really fall and leaves are starting to change. The Apple Festival is next weekend and I am excited about that.
7)Tomorrow we will see what everyone on my blogroll is blogging about
That's all. Hopefully it will be an uneventful night at work

Sunday, October 07, 2007

Good afternoon/evening. Its the day after our 6th anniversary and we will be going out to dinner tonight to celebrate as we spent yesterday at the Greek Festival. Michael did an awesome job describing the day with words and pictures..Check out the wonderful pics over at Valtools Box. While you are visiting, don't forget to vote for Michael's Halloween costume here.

Not much to blog about so I am glad Michael did today. I'll have something more tomorrow. I hope! For everyone who emailed me regarding your prizes, everyone is getting what they asked for. I have all the prizes. Just have to find the time to mail them..Please be patient.

lets play fill in the blank

_______________ always makes me laugh

Tuesday, October 02, 2007

Husbands and such

Back to your regulary scheduled blogging.

Michael posted some good posts today regarding tv, and just day to day stuff. I enjoyed each of his posts and those are the kind of things I like to read about. Hope you will hop on over and leave a comment somewhere. He has been pretty active these days!

I did this post before and hope I get a few more responses. Lets play "brag about your spouse"

In the comment section, tell us what you love about your hubby/wife/significant other.

I will go first. Michael went and got my membership back up at the gym for me today and we got me some shoes this week. Except for the ability to find time, I really dont have an excuse to not to work out. I actually like to go the gym. I can go over to Big Lots next door afterwards and walk around. I really want this weight off before China. Way before China. I want to be healthy.

Michael ordered Greys Anatomy season 3 and we are working on it. Michael was very social at trivia on Monday night. My Michael can be very silly at times, I love it when he is silly.

Life in general

I am waiting to hear from just a few more winners and then I will list what everyone won!

Last night, Michael and I played trivia with our new small group and a pizza place and we had a really good time. Michael listed several of the questions that we had.
Heading back to work tonight and then again on Thursday and I have a few days off. Friday we have our First Friday adoption support group. We will be spending our anniversary (Saturday) at the Greek Festival (we are always out of town and never get to go) and then probably dinner afterwards. Sunday we start a class at church and that will be good.

In our Women's Bible Study, we will be doing Leviticus this week.

Its definitely Fall here this morning, and I hope we get some pumpkins and things this weekend as well. Scarecrows and hay are already our and the leaves are just about to turn colors. its such a wonderful time.

Sorry about the lack of substance, perhaps later..HaHa!
