Amy . . .

What would you like to know? I am fun, but crazy. I have a most perfect husband, and 2 cats named Samson and Delilah. We are presently working on adopting a little girl from China and have a separate blog for that. I am a Christian and am working on a better relationship with him. I live in the Atlanta area and love sharing stories with people. I am also a pediatric nurse and I love it! I love to talk and meet new people and I love Disney Cruising

Yippe, we have a home church

What a relief. After sleeping about 2 hours this morning, Michael woke me up and we headed to church. What I got from the service today was that we are on this earth for just a short time that we need to learn to live! Sometimes, we decide to do something and we just sit on it and think about it. By the time we decide to do something about it, its too late. When you think about your daily schedule, think about what you do daily. A lot of us wake up, go to work, have dinner, go to bed and then do it again. Sometimes on Sunday, some of us go to church.
There is more. Much more. I want to experience more, don't you. Michael and I have patterns or routines that we have had set for years now. I don't see that changing but I would love to.If you have never read Stevens blog, you need to. Go visit him now!He is constantly encouraging us to do more and to quit sitting around feeling sad for people when you can do something about it. I'm tired. This all may not make sense. But we need to do more than our regularly scheduled daily activities.
After the service, we went directly to our meeting. They served some yummy BBQ and sides for lunch and we visited with people at our table. 2 church staff members sat with us and it was nice. For the next hour, they went over the history and basically things about the church. They emphasized getting involved and how this will impact how we feel about this church. I loved it. Michael loved it. I think if we get involved, we will be loved and welcomed by this church. Now mind you, this is a large church. A contemporary one. This is not what we were looking for but gosh its wonderful. They use the Bible for all decisions and that was obvious. That made me feel good. We had a question time and some more info. Staring in September or October we will attend a 5 consecutive week class to go over the beliefs of the church. We will be talking about spiritual gifts and things. I really hope Michael posts on our experience. Check out Valtools Box later to find out! The one thing about this church it has a leadership team and several people (3-4) who preach. They do have a lead teaching pastor who I really like.
Soon, we will join a small group and we are both looking forward to that. This church is real. It cares and loves about its members not matter how big this church is. I love that its personal! Can you tell I am excited. We were introduced to this church by our adoption support group months ago. More about the church later. I am going to nap!
In the meantime, I am sharing a Steven Curtis Chapman song that you may not know. For people who do not want to listen to it, I am going to post the lyrics!

More to this life by Steven Curtish Chapman

Today I watched in silence as people passed me by,
And I strained to see if there was something hidden in their eyes;
But they all looked at me as if to say
Life just goes on.

The old familiar story told in different ways,
Make the most of your own journey from the cradle to the grave;
Dream your dreams tomorrow because today
Life must go on.

CHORUS
But theres more to this life than living and dying,
More than just trying to make it through the day;
More to this life, more than these eyes alone can see,
And theres more than this life alone can be.

Tonight he lies in silence staring into space,
And looks for ways to make tomorrow better than today,
But in the morning light it looks the same;
Life just goes on.

He takes care of his family, he takes care of his work,
And every Sunday morning he takes his place at the church;
And somehow he still feels a need to search,
But life just goes on.

(chorus)

So where do we start to find every part
Of what makes this life complete;
If we turn our eyes to Jesus well find
Lifes true beginning is there at the cross where He died.
He died to bring us . . .
(chorus)

Amy...I am so glad you found a church that you really feel good about. It makes life seem so much better to be in a group of people that share the same beliefs that you do. So happy about your new "family".

Amy, I can't believe the similarities in our posts today about our Church. It sounds like we could have been sitting in the same auditorium. It sounds like you and Michael got a lot out of the service today and I know I did,too. Come visit and read about my worship experience today! You'll be surprised, I think, that our experiences today were so similar!

I LOVE Steven Curtis Chapman! I've been to see him in concert five times and own all of his CDs. I used to be really really obsessed, but now my admiration is at a more healthy level. :) He writes some great songs, and he has a new album coming out in October.

I'm glad you and your husband found a church. My husband and I are in search of a home church right now, and we're hoping to find one soon.

Congrats on finding a church home. I am still looking for a new job that does not require work on the weekends so that our family can do the same.
Wishing you lots of luck with your new church and church family!

Glad y'all found a home church; I know the search has been difficult. Just goes to show, you won't know which church fits until you try many on!
