Amy . . .

What would you like to know? I am fun, but crazy. I have a most perfect husband, and 2 cats named Samson and Delilah. We are presently working on adopting a little girl from China and have a separate blog for that. I am a Christian and am working on a better relationship with him. I live in the Atlanta area and love sharing stories with people. I am also a pediatric nurse and I love it! I love to talk and meet new people and I love Disney Cruising

My job

SOmeone asked me what type of nursing I did and what I have learned from it so I thought I would share it with you..

I am a pediatric nurse at Scottish Rite Hospital which is part of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. I work the night shift and have been there almost 7 years. I am usually in charge each night.

SO what type of floor is it, you ask? Well its called a cranio/facial floor and we do take care of patients who have had certain plastic surgeries like cleft lip/palate, other deformities, brain tumors, hydrocephalus, spina bifida, seizures, head injuries of all types and any other neuro issues like migraines and stuff. So I get to see a lot. I was able to take care of Baby Noor a few years ago, remember her?

What type of head injuries do we see the most? Trampolines accidents, kids in bouncy seats falling off tables and kids riding their bikes without helmets. Also, I can say that we will never own a pasta maker.

So that's it. That's what I do. A lot of the injuries have made me paranoid when I am in public and see kids without helmets but I never wore a helmet when I was a kid and see how I turned out?

Since our son is allergic to wheat, we don't have a pasta maker either, but I'm curious. Is there a problem with them? Are they dangerous?
Thanks for telling us more about your job. I've always been curious, but thought I'd be nosey if I asked ;)

OK, no pasta maker here either. Now I have a reason. I know that when we had our homestudy, the SW was glad to see we had no trampoline. It's amazing how many dangerous things there are out there.

Yikes. Dh worked in a children's ER for awhile. Thus we will never have a trampoline. And when our kids rollerblade they MUST wear wrist guards. It's interesting how your experiences guide how you live your life.
(not long ago I remember reading a blog where a little girl lost her hand in a meat grinder--OUCH!)

Thanks for everything you do for those kids! It's a tough job!

okay that was what I thought on the pasta maker. Ugh. I don't have one so no biggie here. Let me know when you travel. Would love to see you!

Yeah I really battle the helmet issue around here. My boys are good about wearing one if they are riding in the street. Honestly, though I don't always insist on the bike trail. I know it's a "bad Mommy" thing.

What a wide range of things you've seen!!
