Those are some great goals, Amy! I made a lot of the same changes when I started on my weight loss journey the first of this year (57.6 lbs lost so far).

Just a couple of things...if you drink tea, try to make it unsweetened or use an artificial sweetener. A big glass of sweet tea really has a lot of empty calories in it. I LOVE sweet tea, but I opt not to have it at all if I can't have sugar. ;)

You don't have to cut out potatoes completely, and probably shouldn't. A half a baked potato or even a medium-sized whole one is fine now and then, as long as you don't load it up. I use fat-free butter spray on mine and a tablespoon or two of reduced fat sour cream, or sometimes fat free ranch dressing, and it's great! The fiber in the skins is so good for you, and if you use that fat-free/reduced fat stuff, then it's not bad at all.

#10 is a real key. My mom's always saying, if you don't buy it, you can't eat it. Very true!

I wish you every success! I know how hard it is to lose weight, but I know how rewarding it is, too. I have a couple of blog posts about how I lost my weight -- if you want to e-mail me, I'll try to dig up the URLs.

Uh ... don’t have any advice ... maybe when you get up every morning take a DEEP breath, and that’s it for that day LOL :)

I don’t have such problem; since I’m very physically active (mainly walking ‘cause I don’t like public transport and occasionally mountaineering) I lose easy my over pounds.

What I’m trying to do is avoid eating after 9pm which can be difficult since I’m awake ‘till 2-3am.

I hope you’re not brushing your teeth too late in the evening!

Eat less, move more. It will work, I promise.

Here's my TT for Dec. 28--THE TALK.

The no soda thing worked well for me. Hard to do at first.

Good Luck and Happy New Year

Weight loss is on my list of resolutions (this week's TT) too. I hope we both succeed!
All the best for the new year!

Those sound like good rules. Good luck with the weight loss! As a group fitness instructor, I can tell you that the key to exercise is to find something you enjoy. Then it becomes something you want to do! There are so many different options for exercise out there, that there really is something for everyone. For #4 - potatoes themselves are fine, if you get a baked potato (no toppings, and eat the skin) or bake your own fries (just slice up a potato and bake the slices in the oven.)

Healthy snacks? Make sure you have a bit of protein with each snack - it will help keep you feeling full longer. So fruit with yogourt (no sugar added yogourt), an apple with natural peanut butter, a banana with natural peanut butter, etc.

Looks like a great list and here's wishing you all the best accomplishing it. Losing those pounds is SUCH a tough job! Just saw two of the women that are featured in People Magazine this week on the Today Show....they've lost HALF their body weight...with a good food plan and exercise. So it sure can be done.

Sounds like a great plan. Good luck!

Good for you! I think cutting out pop and lots of sugars will probably help, at least in being healthier. I've been trying not to drink as much pop. I need to up my water intake as well. And exercise, oof that's hard to do!

I may have to come and copy your list. It's very sensible and seems like something I could do.

Happy New Year!

Oof girl you've got willpower! Especially with the soda part! And I had to laugh at your resolve not to eat after you brush your teeth. I do that... a lot.

My 13 are up. I moved my blog so this is my first 13 at my new digs.

OK, your list depressed me. I have 10 lbs I want to lose but I've found that giving up things I love completely only makes me a human no one wants to be around.

Good luck! and Happy TT

Mine are up!

Great list.. hope you stick to it!
I had to change my diet for health reasons recently. Not fun.

Sounds like a solid plan. Jump on the "learn to cook" item as fast as you can. When you're cooking your own food as opposed to eating out, you'll find it easier to pay attention to what your eating and make better food choices.

Great goals and good luck!

Great goals. You know, I didn't have a "normal" weight problem but hd some serious eating issues and found that this Bible study made a huge difference on my attitude toward food. Judging from your list and your comment on my blog I would say you would enjoy it.

Those are some wonderful, well-thought-out goals. I wish you all the best with your efforts!

Thanks for visiting me today!

Looks like a good plan Amy, good luck with that and have a Happy New Year!

I lost so much from switching from regular soda to diet soda...but it took me so long to get use to the taste of the diet. YUCK-O...Water really is the best option because it helps to clean you out, too. :)

I know you can do this...just remember, that a lot of what you eat isn't the problem. It's how much you eat. If you can keep your portion sizes small on the things you feel like you shouldn't eat you get to try it but not blow your diet. When I did weight watchers, they really did focus a lot on portion sizes.

Best of luck! I'm cheering for you! :)

Amy, I will be praying for you as you lose your weight. I am doing the same thing right now. This is what works for me...I eat about 1600 calories a day and I eat a little bit every few hours. It keeps my metabolism going and I feel stronger when doing this. It really hasn't been hard to do PTL!
Keep us posted on your progress!

You have a well-thought out plan. I too listed ways that I plan to loose weight! I have too!! If there is one thing that I have learned....it should be balanced! Don't cut out too much! I hope you reach your goal. Maybe you could help to encourage me!!!

Happy TT and Happy New Year!!

Awesome goals. Now print them up and hang them on your fridge or someplace you'll see them every day to remind you of them--to force you to do them. That's what I plan on doing.

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

Those are some great goals.
I buy too much junk food for lunch too, I need to cut that out!
I'm trying to give up soda. I've tried before, but it's really hard for me.

Good Luck!
Wishing you the best in 2007!

You'll be surprised how much cutting soda out will make you feel better and lose weight. I did just that once and it made the world of a difference.

Happy TT!

Resolution #14: Don't let the guilt eat you up, when you splurged. Get back on track and don't worry about it.

Good luck to you. :)

I am going to try to cut down on my Dr. Pepper consumption and to drink more water. I'm also going to try the Speciak-K diet...eat a bowl for breakfast and lunch and then eat a small Healthy Choice meal for dinner. Cut out the chocolate and junk food. I'm depressed just thinking about it!

Carol said...

Hooray for you!

Have fun with your water. You can add fresh fruit like kiwi, citrus or berries to lightly flavor it; eat 'em at the end as a treat.

Healthful snacks: trail mix, fruit, mini-eggrolls...you know, I sort of haunt the healthfood store to find new things I never even knew existed. Try it. Look for Greens Plus bars. They're great for quelling the chocolate joneses.

One thing I really enjoy is wrapping apple slices in cheddar cheese. Fruit salads are very satisfying. Eat omlettes as meals - you can get a full serving of veggies in a single omlette if you try.

And switch your sweetener to Stevia. (Health food store or Vitamin Shoppe) It's not only the ONLY non-harmful sugar substitute out there, it's actually nutritionally beneficial for your body. And that's a very good thing.

I concur with the "move more" advice. I'll also add, "Move faster!" Seriously. Force yourself to walk faster, reach faster, brush faster, stand faster, fold faster...you do have some control over your metabolism.

I'm cheering for you! I know from experience night shift can do a real number on the dress size...upwards, I mean. You go!

you have used your T13 as a great tool this week. i really believe being able to see your goals in front of you & being able to refer to them as often as you need to can be so helpful in helping us to achieve our goals & remember the limits we have set on ourselves.

thank you for stopping by my T13 & leaving such a sweet comment about my photos. i hope you have a healthy & blessed 2007.

I like your list, very practical and obtainable. I'm going to try to walk my dogs more. It seems that a small walk with them always ends up longer thank I expected. Have a great New Years. Toodles, Maryanne

I'm sure it wouldn't be an easy "journey" for you , but if you stumble =P once in a while, just pick yourself up & --- go. I don't have much of a weight problem, but for my little "paunch". I need to trim down. I will have to be good, too. NO soda, no chips with dips(yum),chocolates & cheeze-its! That would have to be one of my resolutions too! Goodluck to both of us! =)

A good list to accomplish. Good luck and thanks for stopping by my blog.
