Amy . . .

What would you like to know? I am fun, but crazy. I have a most perfect husband, and 2 cats named Samson and Delilah. We are presently working on adopting a little girl from China and have a separate blog for that. I am a Christian and am working on a better relationship with him. I live in the Atlanta area and love sharing stories with people. I am also a pediatric nurse and I love it! I love to talk and meet new people and I love Disney Cruising

Its Sunday and I am sleeepy

Did I tell you as of today Michael and I have been logged in to the China system 5 months. You can read our adoption story here.
Each month on the 23rd we buy LynnMarie (the name we have chosen) a book for her collection. What are your favorite childrens books?

Giving Chest is a good one.

Also, I don't know if they have this at your library or not.

But It is called The Dolly Parton Imagination Library. Each month they send your child a book. And I am not talking a little book. They send NICE books. You have to sign up at your local library. The kids will get a book each month until they are 5 years old.

So you might want to check into it for your daughter when she gets here.

It is really neat. David has 2 years left of getting them. Now, he has his own little collection of books.

I think it is fabulous that you buy a book a month for her. Reading is the BEST thing you can give her besides the great love that you and your husband already have for her.

Great post!

"You are my I love you"
All time favorite for Aria and I.

"Shaoey and Dot"
Great way to introduce talk of adoption/orphanage stay, etc.

Toddler Bible/Toddler Devotional.
Read 'em every night together.

"God loves you" by Kathleen Long Bostrom

We love to read too!

My 5 year old loves everything Dr. Seuss. What Was I Scared Of?, aka "Green Pants" is her favorite right now. Love You Forever by Robert Munsch is also good.
She also got the Dolly Parton books. To see if it's available by you, check out her website:

I LOVED reading when I was little. My mom had a heck of a time getting me to put my books away and go to sleep.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs was one of my favorites I remember.

I read all kinds of books to Nate now. His favorites include:

Green Eggs and Ham (Dr. Seuss)
Good Night Moon
Count Yourself to Sleep
Where the Wild Things Are
and just about any book with Elmo in it. :)

I love buying books, but I use Paperback Swap to get a lot of kids books, too. :)

My kids loved Adopted & Loved Forever, but my favorite children's books were all the Little House series. I still will get them out and read them, even at 43 years of age! And who doesn't love the Dr. Suess books? They are just too much fun!

And I am so thankful because all three of my kids just love to read, read, read!

Let's see:
- Any Dr. Suess (duh!)
- If you give a Mouse a Muffin (actually the whole series)
- Where the Wild Things Are
- The Hungry Catipilar (I think that's the title)
- Shel Silverstein books (A light in the Attic, The Little Piece Meets the Big O, etc)

Favorite children's books... well, as a teacher I really have a ton!

One of my favorite holiday ones is SNOWMEN AT NIGHT by Caralyn Buehner and Mark Buehner. It is about what the snowmen do once "we" go to sleep! Good rhyming book with excellent prediction power and just an all around fun read!!!

THE WAY I FEEL by Janan Cain and LOVE SONG FOR A BABY by Marion Dane Bauer and Dan Andreasen are two of my other all time favorites!

I love the power of reading, and have always shared that love with my son & students... I think it is fabulous that you are starting a collection of books for your daughter... I still have books that my parents bought for me when I was little... some pages are worn from use- but you can tell which ones were my favorite!

We have a HUGE library in this house. And if you count my hubby's audio book collection we can probably double it!

I have given you a bunch of our favorites before I think but here are some again:

Goodnight Moon
Runaway Bunny
I Love you This Much
Where the Wild Things Are
We're Going On A Bear Hunt
The Very Hungry Caterpillar
Pat the Bunny
When You Give a Pig a Pancake
The Velveteen Rabbit
How Many Kisses Goodnight?
Bedtime Bible Stories
Dinosaur Roar

There's some of the ones that get extra time in our house. Nick reads alot of older books that won't be fitting for you yet. I loved Charlotte's Web as a child. I still have my copy! :)

My favorite book as a child was Riki Tiki Tembo. My mom was always tickled pink when I recited his whole name really fast. I just did it to show off! ;) BTW ... I can still say it all really fast! :)

When I got older I loved the Nancy Drew books.

What a great idea for your new family member!

my favourite book was "The Spooky Old Tree" in which two bears would sneak out at night to go inside the Spooky Old Tree. Loved it.
