Amy . . .

What would you like to know? I am fun, but crazy. I have a most perfect husband, and 2 cats named Samson and Delilah. We are presently working on adopting a little girl from China and have a separate blog for that. I am a Christian and am working on a better relationship with him. I live in the Atlanta area and love sharing stories with people. I am also a pediatric nurse and I love it! I love to talk and meet new people and I love Disney Cruising

Happy Monday Everyone

Its just barely Monday and I am at work. Life is lovely..Hubby made me some spaghetti for dinner and once again it rocks. Head over to Valtools Box to read his thoughts from yesterday and to compliment him!

What else? Over at The Christopher Family blog, we are having our Monday Meditations where we pray for all involved in the China adoption process. If you feel like it, stop by and say hi!

Thanks for all of your words regarding weight loss. Those are lots of good suggestions and I know its going to take some time and energy to break the bad habits I have. I think if there was a switch in my head that I could just turn on, weight loss would be easier!!! Looking forward to success!

The scavenger hunt prizes are all in envelopes and ready to mail. As soon as they are, I will let you know! There's not much going on. Its still fun to watch Lucy and Pixel play together. Michael and I watched The devil wears Prada last night and it was different than I expected.

I am reading China adoption books and can wait to get into the next Kingsbury book.

I will leave you with a question that Michael talks about over at his blog!

What are you passionate about????????? I want to know if there is one issue that really interests you or a charity that you support

Happy Monday - barely! I'm up late tonight.

I am passionate about Christ. And I am passionate about early detection of breast cancer - I have dedicated my blog to it!

I agree with Michael - some people get all passionate about the silliest things!

Hey Amy,

Just catching up on some blog reading ~ we had a busy weekend (post about it to come soon). I just had to let you know that I'm passionate about being Pro-Life. It's the only arguement I've ever had with one of my closest friends - and I've actually gone to the march in DC (it's in February - it's very cold in DC in February). Anyway, that's my issue - always has been, always will be.

Eeesh, I know this one could start a pretty bad war of words, but can we talk about spin? I am not making a statement for or against either side of the abortion argument, I am talking about marketing.

The people who do not want the government to tell them what they can and can not do to their own bodies are refered to as being pro-choice.

The people who want to make abortion illeagal in all cases are called pro-life.

It is generally understood that these groups are the polar opposites in this debate, right?

So the opposite of pro-life would be pro-death or anti-life, right?

And the opposite of pro-choice would be anti-choice, right?

Abortion-rights supporters do not favor death in general, so "anti-life" is an inappropriate term.

So the term pro-life is a political spin to make them look good as they try to make the government and it's police power enforce the religious and ethical beliefs they embrace on the entire populace of the country.

Now where the opposite of pro-choice would be anti-choice, that term is never used despite the fact it is accurate. Pro-life people do not want you to be able to choose for yourself what is right or wrong. Keep in mind the predominant reasoning they don't want you to be able to choose is their own religious belief, in Judeo-Christian circles, the will of God. This faith also maintains that you will be judged for your actions in life when you die and meet your maker. So, in essence pro-lifers want the government to force you to act in a way that is pleasing to their God and will help you (the individual who may not even share this faith) achieve a better status in the eyes of their God.

For this group to rely on the government to legislate and enforce this belief for them is the imposition of thier faith on the masses, which is contradictory to the First Amendment of the United States Constitution.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Any law that puts all individuals under the behavioral constraints of a religious faith against their will is the establshment of a religion and makes all people exercise an element of that faith.

That simply is not what the law of this land is about.

My passion is raising my kids. I want them to be able to stand on their own...be polite yet stand up for themselves...think about other people...be volunteers (a lot of kids these days don't know what that means)lead happy lives and know that they are loved!
