Amy . . .

What would you like to know? I am fun, but crazy. I have a most perfect husband, and 2 cats named Samson and Delilah. We are presently working on adopting a little girl from China and have a separate blog for that. I am a Christian and am working on a better relationship with him. I live in the Atlanta area and love sharing stories with people. I am also a pediatric nurse and I love it! I love to talk and meet new people and I love Disney Cruising

Tuesday Night/ Wednesday A.M

I have not been watching a regular tv show at all this summer. Perhaps its the whole night shift thing, but its kind of relaxing. Next fall I will be watching Survivor, E.R, How I Met Your Mother, Lost, A.I (In January) and possible some new ones! !!!

Michael started work this week and got pretty sick yesterday. So sick he had to get some IV fluids at the near by medical facility. Had he told me about it before he went, I would have been worried. They gave him some meds and when I left for work tonight he was out cold!!! He has posted a new post over at his blog!! Make sure you visit and say hello!

We are having a surprise visit from some of my family next week and I am very excited about that.

I have been reading blogs this week. New blogs. More than likely if I read your blog, I have been reading the blogs of your commenters and thats been kind of fun!

If you have read our adoption blog, you will have noticed that we have now been logged in to the China system. April 23rd is our official log in date. Our wait officially began this day! But on the 23rd of every month, we have started a new tradition. We buy one children's book. We figured this was more practical than buying clothes or anything else. LynnMarie will have quite a collection. Head over the adoption blog to see what book I chose this month

So, I ask you, whats your favorite book? Perhaps you had a favorite book as a child or perhaps your child has a favorite one.. Well, I want to know!

"Green Eggs and Ham" I don't know why but I love that book, I used to read it to my son and my girls when they were little, now they read it to their kids.

Amy I got my package yesterday, thank you very much, I actually watched it and really enjoyed it, I am not a Ben Stiller fan but he was very likeable on this one. Again thank you and Michael for the gift.

Amy, Happy LID. It is a great day to hear the news from your agency. I am glad you stopped by my blog. You can usually tell from my reviews if I think the book is worth purchasing. We read a lot of great books from the library but some we just have to buy. I adore the illustrator of your LID book, John Muth. He has a wonderful version of Stone Soup. On the last back page there is a black and white imprint of a Chinese girl. We used that image on a bunch of things during our wait. I just read a wonderful book albeit for a bit older reader entitled Three Names of Me. It is a wonderful Chinese adoption story. It incorporates, BM, orphanage and parents. The best part is unlike in Love You Like Crazy Cakes, the girl has a mother and father. I always feel a bit strange reading Crazy Cakes for that reason.

Melanie's books are all classics (and great additions to any child's library!)

My all time favorite kid's book growing up was ~ Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. It's a book for a little bit of an older child - but sooo funny! I love the pictures.

I've read Goodnight Moon more times than I can count. If you can find it (I got it as a gift) there is a book called "Count Yourself to Sleep" and it's too precious. I use to read it to Nate at bedtime. It's about counting all of your gifts from God instead of sheep.

I LOVE books!

My mom used to lay down with us at naptime and would read to us as we fell asleep. She and my dad both loved to read and passed on that love of books to their children.
Two of my most favorite books that she would read to us were Heidi and The Boxcar Children. I love both of those books. Of course, they will be a little too old for her for awhile, but as she gets a little older, they might be good choices.

For younger kids I love all the Boynton books, and The Gruffalo is a great one for a slightly older child.

We have so many favourite childrens books in our family, but I will try to keep it brief ;-) "The Big Green Pocketbook" by Candice Ransom and Felicia Bond; "Katy No-pocket" By Emmy Payne; "The Story about Ping" by Marjorie Flack; "Make way for Ducklings" by Robert Mc Closkey (so sweet!), "Corduroy" by Don Freeman, "Papa Piccolo" by Carol Talley, the "Angus" books by Marjorie Flack, "Blueberries for Sal" and then when she is slightly older, "The Rag Coat" by Lauren Mills and the "Little House on the Prairie" series, also the "Boxcar" books. I could go on and on..... :-)

One that hasn't been mentioned is "Leo the Late Bloomer." I can't remember who wrote it, but as a hoplessly uncoordinated child who couldn't write her own name at the age of 5, much less ride a bicycle; I liked this book very much. I still do.

I'm way behind on my blogs, but I am so sorry to read about Michael! I hope he is doing better now, poor fellow.

I, of course, loved the Little House series and still do. And I loved reading the Dr. Suess books to my kids. They are just so much fun. I also loved the Anne of Green Gables series when I was a teenager. Have you ever watched the videos? I really think you and Michael would enjoy them!
