# 13 sounds so wistful. I hope that for you, too.

Too bad you already named your pet Lucy, because I love that name and would have suggested it!

When I was pregnant, what I did was made a list of all the names I liked. Then I asked him to look at that list and asked him to assign each name a 1-5 ranking, with 1 being the names he really loved. Then I tossed out the 4s and 5s and put the list away (adding a name here and there when I thought of one) and had him do it again later. Eventually, we had about 3 boy names and 3 girl names. I think that's a good idea, because when you see the child, one of the names you really liked just might not seem to fit her, you know?

I'm sorry to hear about your close friend. I'll light a candle for her!
For the little girl I like Luna or Cynthia.

I'm so sorry to hear about your friend having breast cancer. :(

Pixel is such a cute name for a kitty!

And congratulations on your upcoming adoption -- how exciting!

Happy TT, and thanks for visiting my blog. :)

It's a very interesting and honest list. I'm so sorry about #9. I'll say a prayer for her. I'll also say a prayer for #10. The wait must be so hard. Have a wonderful Thursday and thanks again for hosting the contest!

I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. Breast cancer is a very scary thing to go through. I'll send positive thoughts her way.

My husband and I had no problem coming up with girl names, but couldn't think of a boy name we liked. Thank goodness we had girls!

Hi Amy - I know you are looking for a church. I'm not sure exactly what you are looking for, but I go to a FANTASTIC church in Powder Springs. If you'd like some more information or have any questions, feel free email me - jmdeaton at yahoo dot com. I've lived in this area all my life, so I might be able to help you. Let me know if you have any questions!

Oooh, a good girl name. I like Ava. I also like Morgan or Lauren.

What's popular today might not be popular in two years. When I picked my son's name it was not popular. Now, it was number 1 the year he was born. ARGH.

Great list, happy TT, and thanks for dropping by mine.

My youngest daughter, Holly, wishes I named her Clare or Clara. Both my dd's and I like Thea (pronounced TAY-uh). I'm sure you could spell it a few different ways.

Amy - good luck with names! I have two boys, so you're welcome to the girl-names I never got to use - Chloe Valentina for baby #1 and Emily Christina for baby #2.

So sorry to hear about your friend's cancer. Hope everything turns out alright for her.

I hope your wait gets shorter too!!!

Happy TT!

I hope the wait shortens until you get your baby too.
And good luck with finding the perfect name for your little girl.
I agree with Amy Ruttan, the names seem good now, might not seem so great by the time you get your daughter.
I had a friend who had always loved the name Jordan for a boy or a girl, but by the time she had a kid, everyone was naming their kids that. So her favorite name wasn't so "special" anymore.

Paulie said...

Hi. I enjoyed your blog. . . I had three girls in my preschool class -- they were all adopted from China. They were named Elizabeth, Grace and Jazmyn. None of them looked "alike" except for their dark hair.

I also have a friend who adopted two kids from China and she named them Timothy and Jennifer.

I like Grace a lot but Elizabeth is my middle name and I like it also.

How about naming her Joy? That is what she will be bringing you!!!!!!!! God's blessings for adopting.

Sorry to hear about your friend. All the best to her.

I love picking out names--but for me, the best part is poring through those baby name books. Enjoy!

But #11... There's a proper way to clean and organize a house? As if I didn't feel inadequate at that enough as it is.... LOL

for a girl i would like the name Emma.

see you next thursday

I too am sorry to hear about your friend ... :( I wish they would develop an easy cure!!!!

Perhaps when you see your daughter you will know exactly what her name is supposed to be. That happened with my Sarah.

Thank you for stopping by, and have a terrific rest of the week .. :)

I am so sorry to hear about your friend. My SIL is fighting breast cancer right now. Her attitude is tremendous though. I will be praying for you friend.

What a list! It's funny - there are so many different things here (no big theme) but it really works. I'm feeling mucho empathy with you on No. 11 and No. 12. Let's name those fears and be done with them!
Have a great rest of the week, Amy!

Lori said...

Everyone has fears....thats a part of life:) I have a son in the Navy...Im scared to death on a daily basis. You just need to have faith in God...if he brought us to it, he will get us thru it:)

Last year, I did the 3 day walk for breast cancer and I stronly recommend every woman does this at least once in her life. It was a very insightful experience.
Best wishes to your friend.

Sorry about your friend's bout with breast cancer. My sis/i/law has been battling Non-hodgkin's lymphoma for 2 1/2 years, and seems to be in remission. She's gone back to teaching.

Check out my TT.

Are you thinking of a foreign or domestic name? Holy cow, there are so many out there. Please don't choose Madison or Emma, everyone else does! (Including many friends and relatives!)

I hope your wait is shorter too Amy!

Unknown said...

Madison was my favorite 5 years ago until I started working at the Childrens hospital and everyone used that name along with some others.

Now we realize that Lynn, Grace, Elizabeth, Marie and Katherine are everyones middle name

Awww sorry about your friend. Sounds like you have a lot going on right now. Here's hoping there's more happiness coming your way!

Jess said...

Wow, you have a lot going on....

So sorry about your friend with breast cancer. My father had it, and is going on 5 years cancer-free. The battle can be won.

I am totally with you on #8. Debt is evil.

This is a great list. Hang in there!

Name choosing sounds like a lot of fun. Are you planning on using a Chinese name or an American one? Or a combination?

Just out of curiosity, since your little girl will not be a teeny tiny infant when you get to bring her home, what will her name be when you get her?

I have a cousin who was adopted out of foster care when he was about 1.5 years old. His foster mother had always called him "Buddy" because she couldn't formally name him.

Bubba said...

wow...you have a lot going on! Thanks for stopping by my blog...and my prayers for your friend with cancer. Breast cancer takes the lives of too many women.

God bless,
Bubba

My brother-in-law wants a little girl from China. I hope it goes quickly for you! I adopted, so I know that anxious feeling.

May God bless you!

The little girl names I picked out were long/exotic ones to make her feel special, but that had shortened versions for common use.

Amanda (Amy or Mandy)
Elspeth (Beth or Elle)
Guineviere (Wendy or Jen)
Anastasia (Ann or Stacey)

Thanks for visiting my Thursday Thirteen!

I have tons of name ideas!! That is one of my favorite pasttimes!
River Faith is the name we wanted for our first reversal baby because it took a river of faith to do the reversal, wait for the baby, and then to open our fertility to the Lord forever. Our family freaked at the name River, though. We went with Trinity Renee. Born again by the Triune God!

I haven't figured out the whole keeping a house clean and organized all the time. I know HOW to clean, but can't keep it that way all the time.

If you're out of debt, would you want to go to work?

All the best for you & your amazing family. Judging by your 13 today, you need a hug..so...((((HUG)))))

Re: The comment you left on O So Mo Love...I use my MP3 player to jam out while at the gym.

BLESSINGS!

I had a lot of unspoken fears too, until the past few years. I was always ashamed. Then I found out they weren't all that abnormal, and I let them all out. It didn't help me heal, but it helped me feel better about myself at least somewhat. (((hugs)))

I'm so sorry about your friend. Breast cancer is scary to me. I just lost a grandmother to it, and my other grandmother had it (and beat it, thankfully) when I was really young. I hope your friend beats it.

My hubby and I have a couple girl names picked already (for if we ever get pregnant or for when we adopt) but it's boy names we can't agree on! Our top two girl names are Jadyn (Jade for short) and Cailyn. Yeah, I know they rhyme. ;o)

What about the name Aubrey? I've always loved that name. :)

Breast cancer is an epidemic disease now but many people recover and get through it well so tell your friend to have faith and take care of herself.

Happy T13 and thanks for dropping by.

I hope your wait for your little girl flys by! In the mean time work on organizing skills, then again you will learn when you have little ones running around:)
Happy TT!

I've always liked the name Silvia, but I'll never get to use it. Should we have another daughter she will have to be named Mary Ann because it's a family thing in my Hubby's family.

The Flylady said that even housework done wrong blesses your home, so I never worry about doing it right anymore. I do worry about not getting enough of it done.

I'm fond of Nicole...my baby girl's name.

So sorry about your close friend's bad news.
Can you imagine how the excitement is going to build over the next two years?
My husband and I each had a brother named Joe so we named our daughter Josephine.
Thanks for dropping by my TT.
