Amy . . .

What would you like to know? I am fun, but crazy. I have a most perfect husband, and 2 cats named Samson and Delilah. We are presently working on adopting a little girl from China and have a separate blog for that. I am a Christian and am working on a better relationship with him. I live in the Atlanta area and love sharing stories with people. I am also a pediatric nurse and I love it! I love to talk and meet new people and I love Disney Cruising

I'm with you on the store shelves. It's all I can do not to straighten some out in the Dollar General stores. How these people keep their jobs I don't know.

Check out my TT

Great list!

I would love to work in the hospital nursery also!

Happy TT!

Number 12 is a tough one. I have to resist reordering books that are miss shelved in book shops having been a librarian at school.

I also tidy up shelves in stores. It's a compulsion. I've worked in libraries, which was a great experience. My mum manages mail sorters, and it doesn't sound like such a great job... Happy TT.

I used to work at Hallmark and I loved putting out the cards. There is a skill and talent to doing it correctly :) It's much harder than it looks if it's done right!

What an interesting TT!!!! Love it!

I would love to work in a nursery too...ahh the babies! :) Great TT!

Except for the teaching and nursery job, these are all pretty low key jobs. I wouldn't mind any of them. Great idea for a list!

Wonderful list! Teaching a high school class would be fun, though sorting mail at the Post Office might just make me fall asleep! :)

(ps. my tt is not up yet, but it will be soon!)

I tend to straighten/rearrange misplaced items in stores as well. Which is weird, because I don't usually arrange my own stuff at home that neat. I guess it's something about being in the hospitality industry...

ok... I have to admit, we definitely have the same genes... I would love to do most of those 2. Do you remember Dad telling us often that we have beautiful voices. You would do great with kids music ministry :)

Melody said...

Great TT! I'd love to work in a library since I love to read!!! :)

I did Hallmark cards for a couple years. It was hard! No one ever put the cards back in the right slot so you always ended up with a stack of cards without homes.

I've also done bookstore and library. The bookstore was the Best. Job. Ever.

Happy Thursday!

I'd love the flower shop job!

I need to investigate how you're coming along with your adoption process. I've been out of the loop lately, but now I'm baaaack!

oh a kindred spirit! I look at so many different jobs and think that I would like to try them. I was also a pediatric nurse when I first started also worked in PICU and NICU. Only floated to newborn nursery a few times. I think there should be switch jobs day where you try a different profession for a day or so. Great tt

I couldn't straighten shelves or put out cards... I would end up with no room in my house AND no pay check from buying all the ninfy little things and cards!! =p

Happy TT!

I've always thought I would like to be a librarian. Actually I've worked "in" a library (during college I worked for the school's historian/archivist), but I wasn't part of the regular library staff, so it wasn't quite the same.
Happy TT! :-)

I like the list! Lots of good fun things!

I would like to be an artist for day!

Lisa @ The Plain-Spoken Pen said...

What a great TT! Maybe I should put together a list like that - perhaps it would help me figure out what I might want to be when I grow up. Seriously.

There is so much truth here! I cannot go into a retail store with my wife, especially a grocery or large department store without here being compelled to straighten shelves!

Debi said...

Another "must straighten the shelves" girl here. It's a compulsion.
Did work in a Hallmark store. Putting out the cards was by far the most fun part of the job!

Loved this list...neat idea, Amy!

Sparky Duck said...

nice list. Some of them are very volunteerable. (is that a word?) I think the hours stink for #6

Sue said...

Oh, I'd love to work with newborns. If I knew then what I know now, I would have gone into nursing to become a nurse at an Infertility Specialist's office.

Great TT!

What a great list! On Oprah yesterday - yes, I do watch sometimes - it was all about following your dream to achieve happiness! One woman actually left her career as a stockbroker and became a trapeze artist! I'm afraid I'm not that brave - perhaps it's because I'm not a risk taker! Oh well, I'm thankful to have a new normal job beginning!

I've done #5 (travel agent) and miss every minute of it! I would love to do #6 (work at a hotel/resort) and #11 (Lulu loves books!). And as for #12, well, not so much!

Fun list!! I might "borrow" your idea next week!

Stacy at Exceedingly Mundane said...

Great list, I would like to do a lot of these too.

I'm with you on the shelves and books. I find myself straightening stuff and moving it if it's out of place in bookstores, movie rental places, etc. I've even moved books in the library. I can't stand to see series books out of order, in a grouping by the author. Why can't they put them in order? :)

Qtpies7 said...

I'd like to work with newborns, too! But mostly I'd like to be in the delivery room, its just so incredible!
Great list!

Anonymous said...

I am so with you on the store shelves as well. I also would like the hotel job, if not just for a chance to get some reading done!

TeaMouse said...

I'm with you on the nurse in the newborn nursery and the library...I've always wanted to work in a library!

Joy Renee said...

i'm a bit obsessive abotu straightening shelves myself. probably why I also loved to shelve books in the library when I did my workstudy at the college library.

i used to want to be a neonatal nurse too. but probably sitting in a rocker cuddling the newborns would suit me better. I could never get enough of holding a sleeping baby.

My #28 is 13 things I am NOT going to miss about the weekly walk to the library. It is 13 pics of the anoying to the horrifying. :scare:

I'm having fun with my new digital camera while offering an amusing and informative lesson on the vissisitudes of the visualy impaired.

UGHHH to the shelf straightening..lol I have worked retail for almost 14 years now and I say UGH!! to that..lol You would so get over actually WANTING to do that for fun quickly..lol

I do it sometimes when I am shopping elsewhere out of habit though...lol

Great idea for a list!!!

Happy TT :)

Sorting mail at the post office??? Hmmm....that's the one that seems out of place. Would you make sure it all got to the right place or devilishly send the x-rated magazines to a grandmother????

Michelle Pillow said...

I don't think I could work as a nurse in a nursery. It would be too hard, esp seeing babies on ventilators. I really respect people who can do that kind of work.

I LOVE Bed of Roses!! Such a great movie. I love your T13.

Julia said...

I would love to do all the things you listed here too! WOW

But if you love to do these thing, follow your dream *grin*..

Thanks for stopping by my blog - have a Happy T13!

I have always thought working in a library would be great. I would choose the children's section and definitely do story time, with the three young boys I got voice skills.
Thanks for stopping by.

Be well and enjoy the day.

Fun TT!

Cool list. I think I could try my hand at some of these, but the teaching of kids is not one of them. I'd love to work in a library. I used to tell people, that when I get to Heaven, I'd like to work in God's library.

Rebecca said...

I love organizing stuff. Does Walgreens let you volunteer? ;)
Thanks for commenting on my TT13!

I can guarantee you, via my CP who's worked for the PO for years, that #2 ain't no fun! *g*

I've always wanted to be a travel agent--help people go on their honeymoons and stuff. Seems like a stress-free kind of job, with perks.

Wow, those are some diverse interests! I hope you get to do some of those! :)

What a great idea for a TT! Mind if I steal it?

Oh gosh! You and I are alot alike! I would LOVE to do just about all of those that you listed! I hope you get to try your hand at a few of them!!! Cute idea for your TT!

Christina (BookTasty) said...

I'd also love to work in a library! Believe me; teaching isn't all that is cracked up to be (except for summer breaks!) :p

I'm like to try the No 1. Is just too nice to look at newborn baby. I like cute baby.

The Rock Chick said...

I would love to work in a nursery, too! I just adore babies...could hold them all day!!!

Hey, if you take that post office job, let me know! Maybe for once I'll actually get my own mail and not all of my neighbors!! :) Thanks for the visit!

Happy TT- Jessica The Rock Chick

Great list, Amy! Thanks for stopping by my TT.

Did the library thing. Let's just say they call it circulation for a reason. But I found a lot of books that I wouldn't have read otherwise.

Most libraries are looking for volunteers to help out. You should check it out.

Thanks for stopping by my TT! This is a great list, but I must take exception to the front-desk-at-a-hotel one. I studied hospitality management in college and loved it, and then lasted all of 9 months as a front desk manager at a hotel. I was yelled at, threatened, physically attacked (only once, but that was the breaking point), and insulted by hotel guests. And this was a five-diamond property. Between overbooking, the group/tour market, and all of the weirdness that is just people in general, it was pretty intense. I hope you have a better go at it than I did if you get the chance!

# 6 sounds like fun. Great TT list, Amy!

Cool list! You can combine #1 and #5 by becoming a Travel Nurse. I do it and I love it - I get paid to help people and to see amazing places!
